At the end of the Lakers' win over the Clippers Wednesday night, Chris Paul and Pau Gasol got into a dispute, of sorts. Paul and Gasol exchanged some words, and then some more words, and then Gasol ... how can we put this? He ruffled Paul's head. You know, like you would the paper boy, if paper boys existed if papers still existed. Paul, to put it lightly, did not take it well. Here's the incident.

And after the game, Paul was not at all letting it slide. From the Los Angeles Times, which describes Paul as "incensed" after the game:

"I don't know if (Pau) has kids, but I'm not one of them."

This rivalry is going to be so much fun.

Rufflegate: CP3 'incensed' over Gasol head rub

This is clearly a case of the media wanting a storyline and trying to invent a whole lot more than what is really there.  When Gasol touched Paul's head, he apparently meant it as a sign of respect...like punching a guy in the arm or (in football) tapping him on the butt for a job well done or well fought.  Paul, however, took it to mean exactly the opposite...which I would have done too.  But for Paul, it was done and forgotten by the time he was in the locker room.  And if I were Paul, seeing Gasol's statements, I would come to the conclusion that it was all a bad case of culture clash.  But will that be enough for the media?  Lord heavens no.  So, coming to a TV screen near you, you can be sure you'll see..."Gasol vs. Paul in LA, Part Deux -- PAYBACK TIME!!!!!"  Bank on it.

If Chris Paul was looking for a way to make himself look and sound like a soft, bratty, unlikable, whiny bitch....then I say mission accomplished.

@loanguy3

Hahaha Gasol a dominant player?  Hardly.  Soft yes, dominant no.

It wasn't CP3 that fouled Gasol.  You might want to watch the clip again, Gasol did not get hit across the face (it appears "soft" is an infectious disease that extends to Gasol fans).

Let's not forget that it was going to take waaaay more than just Gasol to get CP3, not just the commissioner.  What fool would trade CP3 for just Gasol?

GASOL FOR CP3

Last night he stepped up and showed he is still a dominant player.  He fought.  The Clippers push and hit him across the face and then fouled him wihat less than 2 seconds left in a game that they had lost.  What was up with that? That was classless.  CP3 deserved to get his head slapped.

Let's not forget that these two players were supposed to have been traded for each other before the season began.  The commissioner felt that Gasol was not worth CP3.  I'm sure Gasol wants to show everyone they made a mistake.

Speaking of which..NO has got a conditional draft pick out of that deal.  Gordon is turning into Brandon Roy and Kaman is a bust.  The NBA was so worried about giving the Lakers an advantage they took damaged goods and couldn't even get Gordon to an extension.

CP punched a guy in the groin but he blows up because someone touched his head.  Grow up man.

Chris Paul is a good player (not great by any means), but he sure strikes me a just a whiny little girl. Maybe he can team up with LeQuit, and they can be the the self-appointed King and Queen of nothing.

i really wonder where in the world these writers, so-called-journalists, are learning their trade these days?  A good writer is about 1-in-a-million anymore.  That wasn't anything like a 'paper-boy head rub' AT ALL.  What the hell did that guy/gal see?  Gasol just started to touch the back of his head - didn't even GET to the the top of his head.  It was odd...strange even but this writer just dug the 'journalists' SUCK' hole that much deeper by over reacting him/herself and writing yet ANOTHER inaccurate piece.  Pretty soon all journalism will be the front page of Yahoo-news where you see a headline and think wow or cool only to click on it and find, YET AGAIN, the writer/editor essentially lied to you just to get you to click (ie the article is NOT what you expected and boriing or Ho-Hum at best).  Idiot! (the writer, of course!)

Gasol touched the back of his head, not the top.   If Paul had an issue with it, he should have spoke to Gasol.  Maybe that chin strap beard has his brain dead of common sense.

Gross overreaction by Paul, but at least he didn't go all Adrian Beltre on him. Beltre would've swung.
