Watch your back, Indiana Pacers. You're officially on Chicago Bullls point guard Derrick Rose's hit list.

The reigning NBA MVP broke from his usually humble, soft-spoken demeanor to let reporters know that he's holding a grudge against the Pacers for how they celebrated a Wednesday night victory at the United Center.

ESPNChicago.com reports that Rose said he can't wait to get his revenge.
"I'll never forget how they celebrated just from winning this game," Rose told reporters. "I can't wait to play them again."
Pacers coach Frank Vogel, meanwhile, explained that his team's post-game celebration was simply a product of their pent-up frustration at losing to the Bulls in the 2011 playoffs.
"They are just thrilled to get the win here," Indiana coach Frank Vogel said. "They were crushed that we didn't beat them last year in the playoffs."
This isn't any sort of reckless trash talk from Rose, but it is an instructive episode because it represents a full step of evolution. Not only are Rose and the Bulls playing like the league's best team, they have been playing like that long enough so that the target on their back is fully formed and their past vanquished victims are out for revenge night after night.

The next step, of course, is to have the rings that elevate that dynamic to the next level, but this is clearly progress from when the Bulls were still developing around Rose in 2009-2010 and then surprising people with the consistency of greatness in their play in 2010-2011.

A little more than a week ago, Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant told the world that only two NBA players have the competitive edge that he has: Chris Paul and Rose. Over the last 24 hours, we've gotten a great glimpse at what Bryant meant. Paul got into a battle of respect with Lakers big man Pau Gasol while Rose takes a Jordanesque turn here, using a perceived slight as fuel for the next competition.

It took a long, long time for NBA players to finally realize that they should do whatever it takes not to anger Jordan and Bryant, lest they feel wrath in return. Given that history, this won't be the last time we see comments like this from Rose. Until then, we all countdown until the fun part: March 5, the next time Indiana visits the Windy City.

Derrick Rose ticked at Pacers for celebration

Are you kidding me with this crap?? Okay soo just so I am understanding your side of things, LBJ DWADE AND BOSH have done nothing of the sort right? WAKE UPPPP!!!! They did this crap before they even won anything.. Do you NOT REMEMBER the GIAGANTIC CELEBRATION that took place in MIAMI???? NOT ONE, NOT TWO, NOT THREE??? With a team attitude like that they are right it will not be any of those numbers it will be a big fat O. I will give those three players credit for the individual talents, as they probably well two are probably the two of the best players in all of basket ball, and I even will go a step further and say Derek Rose is up there as well.. BUT GET OVER YOURSELF!!! They had every right to celebrate that WIN in Chicago, you knocked off the top seed in your division and 1 of 2 in the east!!! Pacers are going to be just fine let rose make his threats and cry about being embarassed they way he demorlized the pacers last year.. At least we didnt have to sign huge contracts to beat a team of the bulls talent, yep thats right we beat them with a bunch of "no bodies" and have been beating EVERYONE we have beat with a bunch of "NO BODIES"!!

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK PACERS...

The only Joke I see is lame ass fans like you who believe the ONLY WAY to win a championship is to have a bunch of HOLLYWOOD HYPE surrounding thier team!

Spartacus007, saying rose has no appreciation for the sport just eliminates you from even being a worthwhile person to have a discussion with. Just stop.

Are you seriously saying that Derrick Rose doesn't know what passion is?  That has got to be a joke.  Have you seen him on the court?  Maybe off the court he's usually chill and may not seem like he cares, but he's the most passionate player I've seen in my lifetime and memory.  If he wasn't passionate and doesn't care, why does he work so hard in the offseason and improve his game?

And your reasoning behind Rose not having passion is that he only went to college for one year.  Are you saying Kobe Bryant doesn't have passion then?  Kevin Garnett?  Lebron James?  You've got to be kidding me.

Very well said @Spartacus.  Ain't nothing wrong with a team celebrating a win no matter where it is. If Rose didn't like it, tough, he should just suck it up and wait 'til the next chance to play the Pacers and try to celebrate on them.  In the meantime, when you get beat you should just walk away and pay homage to the team that just beat you. Period. Celebration and winning go hand-in-hand in sports. It's what makes it fun unless there's unsportsmanlike taunting.

Derrick Rose doesnt know passion... thats why he is so frustrated, he loves the game and knows that the Bulls should have beaten the Pacers. Passion has nothing to do with this, and play better basketball? lets be real... reigning MVP and has suffered from turf toe, what he has missed 7 games in his three year career and three of them have been this last week, obviously he isnt playing his best basketball. Chicago is the better team, and Indiana played well, and should be proud of beating the best team. DRose is just saying, its not gonna happen again, so get over it.

You also have to understand that Rose only spent 1 year in college, so he has little or no appreciation for what that level of sport is about, which is, first and foremost, passion. What turns a lot of basketball fans off about the NBA is the lack of passion the players exhibit, so for a team like the Pacers to celebrate winning a game against a rival on the road, well, what's wrong with that? It'd be great to see the re-birth of rivalries based on something like this. The NBA really could use it.
