Oh, thank goodness. It had been almost 24 hours without a prospective landing place for Dwight Howard popping up. I was starting to feel alone and sad.

Thankfully, the Chicago Tribune spoke with Howard this week on the question all Bulls fans want to know. Does he really not want to play with Derrick Rose? The Magic's big man says as long as the Big Guy upstairs is down with it, he'd absolutely play next to the MVP.

"If I could play with Derrick right now and God wanted that to happen, it will happen," Howard told the newspaper. "It has nothing to do with me not wanting to play with Derrick Rose. I love him. That's my brother."

via ChicagoTribune.com's "Dwight Howard: Orlando center Dwight Howard on long-shot trade to Chicago Bulls: If God wanted that to happen, it will happen."

Howard also denied any sort of marketing complication with Adidas would keep him from wanting to join the Bulls. Previous reports said Howard was possibly resisting the idea of playing in Chicago, whether due to complications with being "the man" next to Rose or the market when compared to New York or Los Angeles, or some other issue, like the weather. Howard could simply be playing the PR game to leave all of his options open. He's likely amiable to playing in Chicago, but still prefers the warm spotlight of L.A. or the fuzzy fur coats in Brooklyn.

But Howard would be wise to consider Chicago -- both for himself and the franchise he's likely dumping. A trade with the Bulls would be easiest to facilitate because they have quality veteran players to package in exchange for Howard, which the Magic are said to covet. With a full stock of draft picks, young players and sub-stars like Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah, the Bulls could take on Howard's salary and one of the Magic's overpaid contracts. For Chicago, putting Howard next to Rose would be phenomenal -- and giving Tom Thibodeau the best defensive player in the league could create the best defense in league history, depending on whether Luol Deng were sent away in such a trade.

@HDawg it could very well create the best defensive team. Boozer is not known for defense and Joakim Noah is not bad. But, Dwight Howard in the middle does more than either of those two players does combined. LOL!

He said it "could" form the best defensive team, not that it would. I think he's right.

You can't compare lebron and melo cause. Lebron was a sign and trade he didn't have to do it that way but basicly lebron was a free agent. Melo was not a free agent but had a no trade clause so in order for him to get traded he has to aprove. the same thing happend to chris paul and the same thing is happening with dwight. But Lebron was a completely different situation.

If Howard wants to actually WIN .. Chicago would be the place to go.   They do have the right pieces to trade in Boozer and Noah and the contracts line up financially as well.   HOWEVER .. where this article FAILED BIGTIME was suggesting that this would form the best defensive team in league history ... LAUGHABLE.

@adrianaggie, sorry but that would be a horrible move for the Magic.  There is no way they take bum knee Bynum and old ass Gasol for Howard/Turk.  I could deffinitly see them trading with the Bulls as they have the younger pieces they want and can clear some salary.  As a Magic fan, I'm all for it.

Dude I'm sorry but you are one serious idiot. Look what the Nuggets got for Melo and the Knicks were the only team Melo wanted to play for. The Magic have very little say, sure but what about the Celtics, Nets, Mavs, Lakers, Bulls, Clipers and the other teams Dwight is sure to add to his list?? And you think Boozer and a #1 pick will get it done? You got to be the stupidest poster on earth.

No, I'm not an idiot at all.  I've probably forgotten more then you know about the NBA son, but let me tell you something.  The Melo trade was the exception, not the rule.  They got more up front for Melo then the Cavs got for Lebron.  The Cavs picked up 2 first round picks from Miami that are going to be very late first round picks and 2 second round picks.   Not very much for a player of Lebron's caliber.  So once again what they got for Melo was an exception... very rare to see a team trade a huge package for a player they know they can sign after the season.

Second of all, if you learn how to read and comprehend what you read then you'll understand my post was based on Howard wanting to play for the Bulls and nobody else.  Obviously if there is a bidding war and 5 or 6 teams get involved then all bets are off, but there is more to the internet then CBS and I've ready in a few places Chicago is his number 1 destination in the summer if he doesn't get traded there and nobody else is going to have a great chance of signing him to an extension.

Get it now?  Ahhhhhhhh, probably not.

@Adrianaggiehou, Sorry but there is no way the Magic take a bad kneed Bynum and old ass Gasol for Howard....no way.  That would be a terrible move for the Magic.  They need to get younger and out of some massive contracts.  I could deffinitly see the Bulls coming out with Howard and for what they have to offer I'd be all for it.
