Oh, thank goodness. It had been almost 24 hours without a prospective landing place for Dwight Howard popping up. I was starting to feel alone and sad.

Thankfully, the Chicago Tribune spoke with Howard this week on the question all Bulls fans want to know. Does he really not want to play with Derrick Rose? The Magic's big man says as long as the Big Guy upstairs is down with it, he'd absolutely play next to the MVP.

"If I could play with Derrick right now and God wanted that to happen, it will happen," Howard told the newspaper. "It has nothing to do with me not wanting to play with Derrick Rose. I love him. That's my brother."

via ChicagoTribune.com's "Dwight Howard: Orlando center Dwight Howard on long-shot trade to Chicago Bulls: If God wanted that to happen, it will happen."

Howard also denied any sort of marketing complication with Adidas would keep him from wanting to join the Bulls. Previous reports said Howard was possibly resisting the idea of playing in Chicago, whether due to complications with being "the man" next to Rose or the market when compared to New York or Los Angeles, or some other issue, like the weather. Howard could simply be playing the PR game to leave all of his options open. He's likely amiable to playing in Chicago, but still prefers the warm spotlight of L.A. or the fuzzy fur coats in Brooklyn.

But Howard would be wise to consider Chicago -- both for himself and the franchise he's likely dumping. A trade with the Bulls would be easiest to facilitate because they have quality veteran players to package in exchange for Howard, which the Magic are said to covet. With a full stock of draft picks, young players and sub-stars like Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah, the Bulls could take on Howard's salary and one of the Magic's overpaid contracts. For Chicago, putting Howard next to Rose would be phenomenal -- and giving Tom Thibodeau the best defensive player in the league could create the best defense in league history, depending on whether Luol Deng were sent away in such a trade.

Did he say he'd sign an extension with the Bulls?  If he didn't say that, then whatever is inferred by his comments are meaningless.  He may just be trying to be diplomatic.  One must know when an answer is really an answer or if it's a partial answer meant to appease people who don't know what a "non answer" answer is.

Dwight Howard open to playing in Chicago

Nice dream Chicago fans. Howard will be a Laker soon enough watch and see. Bynum is a far better option for the Magic. Bynum is the second best true center in the league hands down. Howard will be a Laker very soon and we will take what's rightfully ours this year the 2012 NBA Champpionship! GO LAKERS
The Lakers fans are having the same dream as the Bulls fans, I would love to have Howard on the Bulls. I don't think that Bynum is the second best center, there few other Center that get more rebound and block then Bynum but Bynum shoot the ball more which give him more points.

The team that Howard end up on would be a better team, just on the defense side of the ball the team would be so much better.

There is no way Orlando takes on Boozer's contract.  I can see Orlando maybe Trading for Noah, Deng, Asik, Brewer and 2 first round picks for Howard and Turk.

Why the heck would the Bulls want to ruin the chemistry they have going now?? I'm convinced that Chicago is the team to beat RIGHT NOW.

If the Chicago Bulls can pull this deal off and pair Dwight Howard with Derek Rose they will be the clear favorites to win the Eastern Conference for the next decade or so. If they can keep Luol Deng in the fold to play with Howard and Rose this team is looking at multiple championships if they all can stay healthy. It would give the Bulls the best three headed monster in all of basketball.

My ideal trade as a Bulls fan would be: Noah, Boozer, Butler, Picks (including the one we still have from the Tyrus trade which could be a top-5 pick in a couple of years) for Howard and we would have to take Hedo Turkoglu's giant contract back.

I really don't want to have to give up Luol but...I'd at least CONSIDER it. Dwight is worth the consideration.

Dwight shoots 50 something percent from the free throw line, this is why he can't be a "go to" guy.
