Oh, thank goodness. It had been almost 24 hours without a prospective landing place for Dwight Howard popping up. I was starting to feel alone and sad.

Thankfully, the Chicago Tribune spoke with Howard this week on the question all Bulls fans want to know. Does he really not want to play with Derrick Rose? The Magic's big man says as long as the Big Guy upstairs is down with it, he'd absolutely play next to the MVP.

"If I could play with Derrick right now and God wanted that to happen, it will happen," Howard told the newspaper. "It has nothing to do with me not wanting to play with Derrick Rose. I love him. That's my brother."

via ChicagoTribune.com's "Dwight Howard: Orlando center Dwight Howard on long-shot trade to Chicago Bulls: If God wanted that to happen, it will happen."

Howard also denied any sort of marketing complication with Adidas would keep him from wanting to join the Bulls. Previous reports said Howard was possibly resisting the idea of playing in Chicago, whether due to complications with being "the man" next to Rose or the market when compared to New York or Los Angeles, or some other issue, like the weather. Howard could simply be playing the PR game to leave all of his options open. He's likely amiable to playing in Chicago, but still prefers the warm spotlight of L.A. or the fuzzy fur coats in Brooklyn.

But Howard would be wise to consider Chicago -- both for himself and the franchise he's likely dumping. A trade with the Bulls would be easiest to facilitate because they have quality veteran players to package in exchange for Howard, which the Magic are said to covet. With a full stock of draft picks, young players and sub-stars like Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah, the Bulls could take on Howard's salary and one of the Magic's overpaid contracts. For Chicago, putting Howard next to Rose would be phenomenal -- and giving Tom Thibodeau the best defensive player in the league could create the best defense in league history, depending on whether Luol Deng were sent away in such a trade.

Dwight Howard open to playing in Chicago

if you make the , you cant give them both Noah and Deng.  Deng, i think you have to keep if you can.  Give them Noah, boozer and a slew of draft picks

You don't have to trade both of those guys.  Remember something man, based on the existing rules in place and how stupid NBA owners are Dwight Howard and Chicago will decide what Orlando gets in a trade, the Magic have very little say.

Boozer and a number 1 pick should get the job done.... won't take much more then that because if Howard really wants to play there he'll just make noise and publicly tell people he's not going to sign an extension with anybody else if he's not traded to Chicago. This way nobody else will have any interest in him because nobody is going to trade multiple players to just rent him.

Dwight Howard open to playing in Chicago

As a Heat fan I'm telling the Bulls you don't need Howard.  You're neck and neck with Miami and that's because you have this thing called depth.  The Magic are going to want package Hedo w/Dwight.  Based on the new CBA rules, the salaries must matchup (or close to matchup).  In this case the Magic would likely send Dwight and Hedo for Boozer, Noah, and possible Deng/a bench player.  Furthermore, RIP Hamilton is in the latter part of his career and his no longer the SG he used to be.  Also giving up Taj Gibson is a ridiculous idea as he outplays Boozer in every faucet of the game.  If you're really smart, you trade Boozer for another 2 guard and another piece on the bench.  Once again, you don't need Howard.

Dwight Howard open to playing in Chicago

to YnkeeH8r- If the way Orlando has played the last 4 games is any indication how his teammates feel about him, I think you have your answer.  They have stunk up the joint and I attribute it to having such a selfish player on their team who thinks he is too good for them.  How could they feel good about it?

Howard has become a cancer and he needs to be cut out. Then, Orlando needs to heal and get on with basketball without him.  I just hope they get something for him.  If he is so good, they should get something for him.  Zebras don't lose their stripes and leopards don't lose their spots and I don't think Howard will stop his whining and blaming others.  Look in the mirror, Howard!!!!  Your sorry freethrow shooting, stupid technicals and poor offensive skills (other than dunking) have not helped, especially in the 4th quarter.

I don't know about others in Orlando, but I am sick of this fiasco.  It is time for him to go.

Dwight Howard open to playing in Chicago

Instead of a strike-shortened season, they should have just cancelled the year and announced they were contracting half the teams and declaring all players free agents (obviously that'd never happen, but y'know). If all the superstars want to go play with each other, so be it. Who cares?

The owners are idiots and you're right, they should have cancelled the season and held out until the union agreed to a hard cap.  A 60 to 70 million dollar hard cap would have meant these "dream teams" would be near impossible to put together because teams wouldn't be able to keep three max players on their rosters and still surround them with enough players to put a team on the court let alone a contender.  Instead the owners caved and boom, we're back where we started before the lockout.

I would immediately rush to a store and by an Orlando jersey with the owner's name on the back if the team would have the balls to say the following to Howard.

"Dwight, shut the f*** up.  You're not going anywhere, you have a contract and you're going to honor it.  If your attitude isn't good after our talk we'll suspend you without pay, you can sit at home and watch the games on TV.  When your contract is up you can either re-sign with us or sign with somebody else.  If you go somewhere else there will be no sign and trade where you make top dollar. You will lose around 30 million dollars leaving Orlando for somewhere else.  Once again Dwight, shut the f*** up !!! "

Owners need to tell all superstars the above and stop caving in.  The "we don't wanna lose a star player for nothing" argument is old and ridiculous because trading these fools allows them to make max money AND play where they want.  It basically allows them an early exit clause out of their current deal and early free agency and they don't lose a penny leaving.   Anybody the Magic get in a trade will not replace Howard nor will it be fair market value.  If you were Chicago, would you trade full market value for a player you know you can sign for nothing after the season?  No, you wouldn't.  Orlando is better off letting Howard go and rebuilding then taking mediocre players off the Bulls hands, making the Bulls even more of a contender and the Magic become mediocre.  You are better off in the lottery then being mediocre.....

It's time the owners stand up to these fools..... NBA owners have to guarantee contracts so NBA players should have to honor every game of the deal they signed with the team they signed the deal with.   I'm so sick and tired of reading this sh**.

Dwight Howard open to playing in Chicago

The problem with a trade for Howard is that it would leave Chicago a little lighter for its bench mob. To get Howard would cost Noah and Boozer (maybe even Taj Gibson instead of Boozer) and a 1st rounder. The only thing I wouldn't like is that we lose a key piece of the bench mob as we would need to start Gibson if Boozer goes, or ship Gibson off in his stead. The starting 5 would no doubt be championship ready  (Rose, Hamilton, Deng, Gibson, Howard) with a capable backup at each spot. With Boozer/Gibson and Noah gone, we would be left with rookie Jimmy Butler, Korver, and the White Mamba. Given, we would get Turkoglu back as well because Orlando wants to dump his contract I still like Gibson more coming off the bench than having to play 35 minutes a game. Overall I think the trade would be awesome for the Bulls outside of the fan sadness of losing Noah in the trade. The question is, will Howard actually realize that this is the most championship ready team that can actually afford to sign him that even wants to upgrade at the 5 spot

Dwight Howard open to playing in Chicago

I see that Dwight Howard has now found another team he would like to play with. Who are they playing next? Watch for the announcement. This is a great city with God’s help and him wanting me to play here I would be here.

The next night playing in another city just change the script and insert that city and the # 1 player there that Dwight would not mind playing with.

I see another Lebron James coming up with the cameras running, and Howard is sitting with his Superman Cape on, sweat coming off his brow and finally after 60 minutes of which 45 would be commercials he would announce the I am no taking my talents to ___________________.
Just as long as it is not the Lakers I am ok with any decision he and his agent or group would make.

Based on this article and Howard's other recent statement/hints, we need to know which team he WOULD NOT be interested in joining.

Dwight Howard open to playing in Chicago

Pretty much sounds like he would end up wanting to play anywhere but Orlando. I am guessing that his "list" of desired trade locations will contain every city with an existing NBA franchise by the end of February...
