Davis, Anthony doubtful for Knicks Tuesday

By Matt Moore

Mike D'Antoni said at Knicks practice Monday that both Baron Davis and Carmelo Anthony are doubtful for Tuesday night's game against the Pistons, via Newsday. Davis has yet to be able to make it back into game condition after missing the first month and a half of training camp and regular season after suffering a bulging disc in his back. There were indications he would be ready to go as early as Tuesday of last week, but he continues to struggle with being in good enough shape to play. Which is not terribly comforting for a fan base so desperately hoping he is the point guard which puts all the pieces of the Knicks' talented but woefully dysfunctional offense back together.

Anthony has missed the past two games for the Knicks in an effort to get his hands and wrists right. He's dealt with injuries to both hands this season, and has mentioned his body not being right while he's struggled from the field. But the problem now is his ankle, via the New York Times

Without Anthony, the Knicks have primarily gone to a perimeter attack, essentially trying to outscore opponents with thees since they can't create anything inside. It worked for a while versus the Heat Friday night before the tactic wore out. The Knicks need to get healthy and get some solutions in place to move forward or things are going to get ugly at the World's Most Famous Arena.

But that will have to wait at least one more game while they deal with injuries and conditioning of two starters in this compacted schedule.

No team will ever win with Melo leading the team . He is lazy, fat, ballhog and doesn't get any of his teammates involved nor does he make any team better. Add to that his crippling salary and you can see why the Knicks are going to conitnue being terrible for a long long long time.

once agian u guys are streching the truth. he shoots 20 times and makes 8 which is a all time low for him. he is shooting 39% for the yr. his career avg is 45.7% which is 8.8 made for 19.3 taken. if u are gonna dog this man get yr stats rt. he is not averaging 30 shots a game and making only 6 or 7. u morons are just haters and nothing else. the truth is this is the best team NY has had for yrs. just give them time <<<B4 REAL>>>

Who cares about this illusion that Melo is a great scorer when it isn't even true.. It takes the guy 25-30 shot attempts a game just to make 6-7 baskets, and then he boosts the rest of his point total up at the FT line.  Here's the big problem... his ballhogging/slowdown isolation(because he can't play in transition) is killing the tempo and chemistry of the team.

Plus all his misses are basically like turnovers considering he doesn't play any D, and the opposing team usually scores often immediately after snatching up his misses.

cmon man, melo is who we thought he was. a scorer who plays little defense. but why does he play little D. bc he is the teams leading scorer. Yes he could play better D, but he spends much of his energy on offense. he averages 8-20fg-80%ft-23.6pts-7rebs-4.6ast-1

.4 3s-1.2stl-.5blk and 3.2to. now lets break this down. 7rebs 1.2stls .5blks. for someone who plays little D this is good for Melo.now on offense he averages 23.6 pts 4.6 assists 1.4 3ptm and 1.2 steals. Do we compare Melo to lebron or kobe? no so dont expect him to put up #s like them.
If you had a center who puts up 10pts 10reb and 1blk a game would u take that.  yes all day long. when NY tookMelo they knew what they were getting and he has not let them down (NY). well those stats i just gave u are for tyson chandler. lets see no 3s no asts(well 1.1)  and he only shoots 4.6 times a game. with 10 rebs some of those have got to be offensive, so dont go saying melo takes all the shots. everyone on a team has a role to play and melo is playing his role. <<<B 4 REAL>>>

Oh, what a surprise! Melo's ducking another one! Oh well, at least we don't have to put up with his no D, ballhoggin, 30 shot attempts = 6 baskets.

You have to question any poster that states that Melo sucks...  Melo is a great player.  Always has been.  Nuggets were good when he was there.  Knicks haven't been.  Although it has less to do with Melo and more to do with coaching and Amare and his need to be alpha dog.  If you look into the numbers you'd see Melo is more efficient than your boy Amare.  And Melo doesn't give up layups due to laziness like I've witnessed Amare do hundreds of times.  If you want winning in NY, trade Amare for Howard..and get Phil Jackson.  Then it is the Heat and Knicks fighting for the East Finals...instead of the Bulls and Heat.

One thing you got right...  NY doesn't have a good PG.  All their PGs are score first mentality.  Douglas is disappointing and although Shrumpert has potential; he is young and mistake prone.  Heck, your assist leader is Melo..and he is a forward.  So clearly, NY has issues and that issue must be resolved.  Although I'm not sure you have to spend tons of money on Deron...otherwise, you would have kept Chancey.  You need a good PG no question.  Via that trade for Howard; also attempt to obtain Chris Duhon.  That would do wonders for your team this year.  Then in offseason try to obtain a decent PG that is pass-first in mentality.  Harder and harder to find these days.  Everyone talks about not having a true PF or Center anymore...well you also struggle to find a true PG these days.

If Melo was the true issue; why are the Knicks still losing?  Explain that one.

Melo is outplaying Amare on just about every level except rebounding.  Amare has 1 more rebound per game than Melo.  Melo is also the top scoring and assisting leader on the team.  I think if he was gone; you'd miss him.

The reason NY is struggling is many:  A) they gave up their team for Melo  B) they have no PG  C) D'Antoni has no defensive mind and hasn't made any kind of adjustments  D) Amare plays zero D  E) They have no offensive flow  F) Amare and Melo are alpha dogs...and one must let the other take over...and that guy who should take over is Melo

Kinda hard to win with those issues

Trade Melo for Deron Williams! Melo SUCKS! The Nets get a player that has recognition allowing to build and the Knicks get that point guard that can help them get to the next level.
