Update 12:22 p.m. Monday, February 6th: The league announced Monday that Kevin Love has been suspended two games for the whole "stepping on Scola's face" thing. Scola handled the whole thing pretty well.

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love is a surefire All-Star this season and one of the most promising young players in the NBA. But he'll catch some Heat for what went down during a Saturday night game against the Houston Rockets. There may very well be some people who watch the video below and deem it "dirty."

The incident began with the Rockets holding possession of the ball, trailing the Timberwolves leading, 64-52, with a little less than nine minutes remaining in the third quarter. Scola was working on Love with his back to the basket in the post. Scola fell to the ground in the paint after Love swiped down hard on the ball to force a turnover and Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio collected the ball and passed ahead to start a fast break the other direction. Love then moved to join the play as Scola lay on his back in the paint, in between Love and the upcourt action. Love seemed at first to attempt to step over Scola but his left foot wound up coming down with full force on Scola's face. Replays seemed to indicate that Love was looking down at Scola prior to stepping his foot down.

No foul was called on the play. The only question now is whether the act will draw the attention of the NBA league office.

This isn't the first recent incident between the two big men. Less than a week ago, Scola threw the ball at Love's male region while attempting to save the ball from going out of bounds. Love doubled over in pain at the force of the throw and lay on the ground motionless while Scola checked on his well-being.

In Love's defense... Scola is an UGLY MOFO with a woman's haircut.  Probably was running his trap too.

I like Love - he's a damn good player and he's having a great year, but that's dirty...I suspect he will be suspended for at least a few games.

yeah i was watching the game on houston t.v. with my nba league pass when it happened.i was surprised by the way the houston anouncers over reacted at the time! it looked like kevin love had to step on luis scola's chest cause he had no where to go.not sure how they got that he steped on his face on purpose?  no foul was called and this whole thing is a non-story cause nothing really happened! also about kevin mchale getting booed.kevin mchale is a better coach then a manager.he made some terrible moves that cost this fanchise for years! every nba team did not do joe smith deal under the table! they would have been caught like the wolves and that move set the team back years! so i belive that these so called classless fans have every right too boo kevin mchale! as a life long minnesota sports fan i'd boo him too!

This is clearly not intentional. Love was going to step completely over Scola until Scola threw his hands up.

I've played against dirty players like Scola who are willing to grab your foot as you run past them and trip you. Love hesitated and did whatever he could to regain his balance and get moving on.

Completely blown out of proportion. Certainly not Suh.

I disagree.  My main focus is on Love is after he steps on Scola.  Love didn't turn around and look at Scola at all.  If it had been intentional, Love would have looked back in some fashion, but he didn't even realize what he did.
You are dead on here SDworm he went on like business as usual and did not even break stride, if he had done it intentionally he would of had some kind of reaction. Look at his foot when Scola tangles with his leg the momentum was the same unlike with Suh who brought his foot back and then forcefully stomped on the guy, none of this happened at all with love, it was normal momentum. No way at all it was a stomp if anything it was Scolas fault for grabbing his legs. Pretty obvious.

vikingfan, i agree im a minnesota fan and i found disrepectful of the fans to boo mchale. i thought he was a decent general manager. he made alot of good decisions, and some bad.  i always say, not every decision will pan out. the joe smith thing was normal back then and alot of teams did it, we just got caught.  mchale is a great coach, and will be fine.  mchale was forced to fire saunders even tho he didnt want to.  i love to be a general manager in sports and have a chance to make those decisions.

brian,  you sound like a liberal touting biggot who thinks the world is out to get him. quit livin in the now, and look at things as they are. i would bet you also vote for obama by your comments.  you sound like you jump on anything that looks bad without looking closer. learn to shut your mouth before you speak, and open your eyes.

It looks intentional but who cares. I'd step on someone too if they threw the ball at my balls. I heard about it b/c everyone was making a big deal that Love stepped on Scola's face! Then I watched the video. Looks to me that he went to step on his ugly mug and stepped on his chest instead. Maybe I didn't see if right or something. Every action that an NBAer takes we talk about. It's classless league. And the fans are classless. Even the other day the TWolves fans booed K. McHale when we played Houston. A Gopher alum and NBA champion booed for making some bad GM moves.....classless
