Update 12:22 p.m. Monday, February 6th: The league announced Monday that Kevin Love has been suspended two games for the whole "stepping on Scola's face" thing. Scola handled the whole thing pretty well.

---------------------------

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love is a surefire All-Star this season and one of the most promising young players in the NBA. But he'll catch some Heat for what went down during a Saturday night game against the Houston Rockets. There may very well be some people who watch the video below and deem it "dirty."

The incident began with the Rockets holding possession of the ball, trailing the Timberwolves leading, 64-52, with a little less than nine minutes remaining in the third quarter. Scola was working on Love with his back to the basket in the post. Scola fell to the ground in the paint after Love swiped down hard on the ball to force a turnover and Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio collected the ball and passed ahead to start a fast break the other direction. Love then moved to join the play as Scola lay on his back in the paint, in between Love and the upcourt action. Love seemed at first to attempt to step over Scola but his left foot wound up coming down with full force on Scola's face. Replays seemed to indicate that Love was looking down at Scola prior to stepping his foot down.

No foul was called on the play. The only question now is whether the act will draw the attention of the NBA league office.

This isn't the first recent incident between the two big men. Less than a week ago, Scola threw the ball at Love's male region while attempting to save the ball from going out of bounds. Love doubled over in pain at the force of the throw and lay on the ground motionless while Scola checked on his well-being.

this was not done on purpose and the announcers need to shut up.  instant replay will clearly show that as scola falls down, love is turning around and begins up court. but he starts, scola reaches up as defensive position and they make contact, forcing love to lose balance forcing his foot down in a normal stride to gain control. love didnt look down inspite of, his head went down in defense of his normal body movement.  i would not suspend neither player in any of the two situations. just part of the game.

Oh that is bullshit. It looks more like he didnt try and got tangled up then delibertly stepping on it. And watch the Scola throwing the ball back in. He hesitates and can easily throw it at his legs, arms, etc. instead he launches it at his balls. I guess thats fair though right?
Not for nothing, but it makes sense to me to always aim in the area that Scola did. How many times do see the guy in Love's position lift his leg in anticipation and "the save" just ends up being a bounce pass to the other team? Or a bounce pass dunk to the other team if you try that crap under the other team's basket. A player can always jump or lift his leg, but he can't lift his johnson........if he can than he may be in the wrong line of business.

These comments show you people are complete tools. Obvious what that big loaf did was intentional. Leave it up to you people that live in this now uncivilized country to think what he did was cool. If Scola was bot such a class act, the big loaf would have got his tail whipped.

I disagree.  My main focus is on Love is after he steps on Scola.  Love didn't turn around and look at Scola at all.  If it had been intentional, Love would have looked back in some fashion, but he didn't even realize what he did.

lmfao-so YOU know what love is think and what he would do. He stepped on his face and he is out of here

Looked like an accident to me.  Regardless, Scola deserves a step on the face minimum twice a season.

Of course the Houston announcers would think it was intentional. This is the NBA, not the NFL, the NBA doesn't enforce that much, at most Love will get suspended one game, if he appeals, he probably won't get anything. That could go either way with if it was intentional or if he had to put his foot down somewhere (unless you expected him to take a very long step/stride past him).

Both are questionable...

Scola's hands got tangled up  with Love's leg. Love had to step somewhere to not fall, and happened to hit his face.

The second Scola is just doing a regualer move that everyone does when falling out of bounds, it just happened to hit Love in his pride and joy.

They are the only two that know thier intent

I'd say 85% ACCIDENT 15% minor intention
