Update 12:22 p.m. Monday, February 6th: The league announced Monday that Kevin Love has been suspended two games for the whole "stepping on Scola's face" thing. Scola handled the whole thing pretty well.

---------------------------

Minnesota Timberwolves forward Kevin Love is a surefire All-Star this season and one of the most promising young players in the NBA. But he'll catch some Heat for what went down during a Saturday night game against the Houston Rockets. There may very well be some people who watch the video below and deem it "dirty."

The incident began with the Rockets holding possession of the ball, trailing the Timberwolves leading, 64-52, with a little less than nine minutes remaining in the third quarter. Scola was working on Love with his back to the basket in the post. Scola fell to the ground in the paint after Love swiped down hard on the ball to force a turnover and Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio collected the ball and passed ahead to start a fast break the other direction. Love then moved to join the play as Scola lay on his back in the paint, in between Love and the upcourt action. Love seemed at first to attempt to step over Scola but his left foot wound up coming down with full force on Scola's face. Replays seemed to indicate that Love was looking down at Scola prior to stepping his foot down.

No foul was called on the play. The only question now is whether the act will draw the attention of the NBA league office.

This isn't the first recent incident between the two big men. Less than a week ago, Scola threw the ball at Love's male region while attempting to save the ball from going out of bounds. Love doubled over in pain at the force of the throw and lay on the ground motionless while Scola checked on his well-being.

Kevin Love steps on Luis Scola's face video

It was clearly intentional but it appeared he actually got his chest.  Guys are saying he got tangled and there was nothing else he could do.  Nothing else he could do besides deliberately step on a guy's chest?  Scola actually raised his arms only when he realized he was in danger of getting stomped on.  If Love was losing balance I would agree but that was an aimed foot to the chest.  I've seen Love since his college days and he's bigger and better than this.  He can't let a guy get under his skin like that.   Suspension is likely.

From one angle you can see that Scola's arms tangle Love's leg and he steps down to steady himself, from this angle it's pretty clear to me it's not malice or intentional. The other angle I admit looks pretty bad espically when you see Scola's head bounce off the floor. I don't think there will be any suspension though.

Kevin Love steps on Luis Scola's face video

First let me put a "disclaimer" here:   1)  I LOVE Kevin Love, have him on my fantasy teams, and enjoy the way he plays the game                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           2) I agree that the NBA is full of crybabies and wimpy foul calls                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       However, this was on purpose, and malicious.  I dont think it "characterizes" K. Love as a player in general.  It just a instance where he lost his composure and used horrible judgment.  He WILL be suspended, but it wont be too serious and i look forward to seeing him back in action after the suspension is served :)

Don't see a kick or anything wrong with this, the announcers were obviously biased and so is this article. Love is getting a bad rap from this, I hope the commissioner sees it for what it is really worth and nothing happens to him.

Without whiny bi tches like this moron who posted this story and the attention hungry losers on ESPN, this wouldnt even be a story.  I am so sick of the media needing attention by posting garbage like this.  Yeah, Im a T-Woves fan, but this story should be put to bed.

Let's get a few things straight. Love didn't Kick anyone in the face, he stepped on Scolas chest. Also Scola while trying to protect his face brought his big arms up and Love's foot got tangled. Sure he looked down before he took the step, but what the hell was he supposed to do? If you notice Scola was on his back as well on the offensive side before that as well, someone needs to tell him the floor is for walking on not laying on.

Plus if the officials would have called one of the 3 fouls Love was the victim of before that none of this would have happened.

How can anyone say for certain it was on purpose.  Love's feet were tangled up in Scola's body when he went to take off down the court.  So what if he was looking down at Scola, just getting untangled made it near impossible to miss Scola with his first step.  Love is a class act and if he is suspended it would be a joke for sure.   There is no certainty of intent irregardless of "how it looked."
