Update Tuesday 11:45 a.m.: The Knicks announced Tuesday Carmelo Anthony is out 1-2 weeks with a strained right groin. So Linsanity better be sustainable or the Knicks could come completely apart. On the other hand, this might give the Knicks a chance to find some chemistry and success offensively without Melo. If the Knicks, who have won their past two games behind strong play from undrafted guard Jeremy Lin, keep winning without Melo, that's just going to get awkward.
----------------------------
Just when things were finally starting to look the tiniest bit positive for the Knicks, Carmelo Anthony had to leave Monday's game against the Jazz in the first quarter because of a strained groin.
Anthony injured the groin just running up the floor and did not return to the game. He will be evaluated and a timetable will be set after that. Melo had just returned from a stint on the bench to rest list of injuries that included a bad wrist, back and ankle.
The Knicks were already shorthanded without Amar'e Stoudemire, whose brother was killed in a car accident earlier in the day.

Carmelo Anthony out 1-2 weeks with strained groinAnd, players like Jeremy Lin make the NB of A fun to watch! We all love the competition, but we also really love seeing an out-of-nowhere success like this.

Carmelo Anthony out 1-2 weeks with strained groinOne reason I find sports fascinating is the human element, namely team chemistry. Injuries are always the unforeseeable wild card in any sport's season, and the Knicks fans have been dealt a tough hand anyway - a trade that weakened the roster, Mr. Anthony struggling and now hurting, Mr. D'Antoni holding what has to be one of the most treacherous coaching jobs ever, Mr. Stoudemire hurting in a different way. Ironic that now the Nuggs play for a month without Gallinari. Mr Anthony, in my opinion, made Denver better, improved his rebounding as he matured, yet often killed ball movement and chose Carmelo's Playground...

Carmelo Anthony out 1-2 weeks with strained groinpfff.. no probem? Do you think we traded 80% of our team for this guy and gave him $85 mil so he could make us a sub .500 team afterward? Because that's what your boy Melo is doing for us.. causing us to lose with his selfish isolation and poor attitude. Clogging he budget with a bloated salary, being paid to be a leader that he's absolutely not! Quit making excuses for the guy, he is incredibly overrated and one of the worst team players in the NBA.

If the Knicks, who have won their past two games behind strong play from undrafted guard Jeremy Lin, keep winning without Melo, that's just going to get awkward. This is just stupid. Why can't Lin's play as a competent PG be good for everybody? Haters need to watch the 2nd half of the Nets game as Melo (since he's the one is always mentioned) did not demand the ball or stop the ball consistently with Lin in the game. Late in the game he had a huge blocked shot, showing all the haters, again, that he is willing to play defense even when he's having a bad game shooting the ball... This stupid update implies a lose-lose situation for the Knicks and their fans. I believe that Lin (looking like a poor man's Steve Nash at this early stage?) can make everybody better and like I said, before, will make his teammates better as he learns where they like to get the ball... why is that so hard to comprehend? |

Carmelo Anthony out 1-2 weeks with strained groinThe Melo hate has gotten out of hand in my opinion. It's all about PG play. Last year when Chauncey was running the show, there was no problem with Amare', and Melo playing together. Melo is not a Point Forward, and does not need to be the decision maker on offense. He has never done that, and will never thrive in that situation. Taking the ball out of his hands was the best thing that D'Antoni could have done. Jeremy has been great. I'm hoping he keeps it up, because I'm not sure if they can count on Baron to stay healthy. Having competent PG plays has shown what this team can be. D'Antoni has never had a problem with offense until this year, because he hasn't had a PG to run it. Once the offense picks up, the D will too. When that happens, Melo will be just fine, and the hate will disappear.

Carmelo Anthony out 1-2 weeks with strained groinIf you watch the video you can see he really didn't even do much to strain his groin, all he did was catch a simple pass while he was trotting like usual and stop. Just goes to show how out of shape this Melo clown is(not to mention unathletic and lazy) These are the real reasons why he has absolutely no transition game whatsoever.
Hey Melo, stay away from the cookies StayPuft. |

Carmelo Anthony out 1-2 weeks with strained groinThere is no question the trend and theme of the league is to bring win with superstars. However, as proven especially by last year, you need chemistry to win championships. Don't forget the Detroit Pistons of 04 didn't have a 'superstar' persay however won a championship. The Mavs last year had Dirk Nowitzki and a bunch of unselfish players to beat a team with far superior athleticism, youth, and raw talent. From what I have seen, the Knicks lost all chemistry bringing in Carmelo Anthony and by continuously wanting to trade pieces to find the right fit, it's only going to take longer for that chemistry to work. Knicks have the talent, but do they have enough unselfish players to make it work is left to be seen.
