While Amar'e Stoudemire returned to practice following the death of his brother and is expected to play Tuesday when Linsanity and the Knicks face the Raptors, Carmelo Anthony told reporters Monday that he thinks talk of how he will fit in with Jeremy Lin is "funny." As to who's going to be in charge when Melo retakes the floor following an injury absence, Anthony couldn't have been clearer. It's the Lin Show until further notice. From ESPN NY:
"When I'm reading the stuff, it's more funny than anything because at the end of the day I know what I bring to the game, I know what I bring to this team," Anthony said on Monday after missing practice due to a strained right groin. "My teammates know that. But to say, 'How can I fit in?' It's easy; give him the ball and space out. I get back to doing what I know how to do best. So we'll see."

Anthony said he is confident that he can fit in well with Lin, who missed practice on Monday for a standard recovery day and will play on Tuesday against the Toronto Raptors. Anthony has missed the Knicks' last three games after injuring his groin on Monday against Utah. He is happy that Lin has emerged to take some of the load off of his shoulders.

"I know there's questions about, 'Can I fit in?' and stuff like that, but this is like a dream come true to me," Anthony said. "It takes some pressure off of me. I don't have to play point guard. I don't have to try to get Amare 20 points, try to get this guy 20 points, me try to go out there and get 25-30 points a night, play defense, rebound do the whole thing."
via New York Knicks' Carmelo Anthony could return this week, likes Jeremy Lin - ESPN New York.

This is exactly what you want to hear from Anthony if you're a Knicks fan. There's no question Stoudemire can co-exist, even flourish with Lin doing what he's done in the superstar duo's absence. Stoudemire's best value comes from working out of the pick and roll, either exploding to the rim or catching and shooting in the space provided. Lin's work with Tyson Chandler and Jared Jeffries has demonstrated a command over the set and he should fit in perfectly fine with Stoudemire.

Anthony, who has primarily been an isolation scorer throughout his career and particulary in his firs year with the Knicks, is a bit trickier. But Anthony is certainly saying the right things about how to keep the critics at bay. He wants his own looks, to be sure, but he's also happy to have a guard to create. Anthony had been asked to essentially run point forward at the start of this season with Toney Douglas' struggles and Iman Shumpert's inexperience, and the results were not good. This is a tremendous opportunity for him to have shots created for him, to be allowed to work in space, and to have his incredible talent produce on easy looks versus exceptionally difficult ones.

The only question is if Anthony will be good to his word and take it.

Melo says playing with Lin 'a dream come true'

I think the Knicks should give Amar'e Stoudemire and Jeremy Lin a game or two without Carmello Anthony in order to build some semblance of chemistry between the two.  I know, it will take more than a single game but at least one just to see what they can do without the ball stopping at Melo.  Just because Melo says he'll fit in with Lee doesn't mean it will be so.  We shall see... we shall all see.

Melo says playing with Lin 'a dream come true'

Mello will fit in fine. He hasn't played with a true point in his career. Even at syracuse he had to shoulder a lot of the playmaking duties. he will get so many open looks that he will be very happy. The team has been flowing like a piece of well oiled machinery. Carmello anthony is not a club house cancer. he just does what he is asked. He just happened to be asked to score. He will be better rested and a better defender. I just would like to see him in good shape. He always looks so doughy. The Knickerbockers are gonna roll and woe be the team that sleeps on them now. The person that you should question fitting in is baron davis.

Melo says playing with Lin 'a dream come true'

The problem is Melo has no transition game.  He's basically a 1 on 1 iso street ball player. In the NBA that translates to someone who can't pass well and usually doesn't have the desire to pass, someone who can't get in sync with a fast pace team game, and someone who needs to possess/slow the ball down before attacking the rim. So yeah, in the end the guy can occasionally make a few layups or jumpers here and there when he hogs the ball, but that doesn't translate to wins.  Melo has a problem only caring about his own numbers, and not team results like winning as much. His scoring is all in the context of selfish basketball, not team basketball.

And please watch how often this guy misses his shots, its alarming that people keep claiming he's a great scorer when he just isn't.

Melo says playing with Lin 'a dream come true'

I think Melo knows where the blame is going to be laid if he doesn't play well with Lin. We know Stoudemire will be fine, in fact he will flourish with Lin. Amar'e is probably relieved that there is a true PG now on the team. I hope things work out for Melo, I don't think he is as bad/selfish as the media portrays him as. There are enough shots to go around with Lin leading the team...he already gets a lot of assists to different players now, that should get even easier for him with Melo and Stat finishing.

Melo says playing with Lin 'a dream come true'

dude the guy misses like crazy and he takes at least twice as many shot attempts as anyone else on the court in almost every game. Look at the box from previous games.  You have no clue what you're talking about when you attempt to cover up for the guy, you probably don't even watch the games because its an embarrasment in itself to stick up for the careless, selfish loser after you watch him play.

AtTheWall, you have no idea what your talking about. Carmelo has only 6 games this year with over 25 shot attempts. Nice try. Try and do some research first before spouting off and making yourself look stupid.

Melo says playing with Lin 'a dream come true'

I don't understand why these Melo-heads are so hopeful and confident that Melo will fit in. MELO HAS NO TRANSITION GAME! It's just not naturally there for him, it never has been. He isn't coordinated enough, athletic enough, quick enough, energetic enough... He's just a lazy selfish isolation player, who hogs the ball and slows game tempo, he basically moves like a slug until he gets to the rim.  And the guy is incredibly overrated as a scorer as well, I'm sorry, but if you need 25-30 shot attmepts or 3 times more shot attempts than anyone else on the court just to score roughly 25 points... YOU ARE NOT A GREAT SCORER. It's an illusion.  The media has been trying to paint and sell this guy as a "great" and has been getting away with it for too long.

LOL polecast your so right. he's cancer. and he will ruin them again once he comes back. if he lets lin run the game then the knicks can win. but again you'll have a max player on the floor who is not worth it and does do everything. he needs to take 30 shots a game and nobody in their right mind would give up a "haul" for him, like the knicks were stupid enough to do lol. if melo can keep his attitude good and let lin run the show then this team can be pretty good. especially with amare. only problem on the knicks is melo. everyone knows it to. thats why some knicks fans have been wondering if they would trade the very player they were all talking about getting them a championship last year HAHAHAHAHA. Gallinari is already as good as him on offense lol. wilson chandler is a beast. all them picks and and raymond felton?? come on man what stpid trade lol. this lin kid is def a feel good story though.....
