LeBron says he'll guard Lin some Thursday

Thursday could be the ultimate test for Jeremy Lin. Not because his Knicks will be taking on Miami Heat. But individually, because LeBron James, one of the best on-ball defenders in the game, says he'll likely guard Lin some.

"I know I'm going to end up guarding Lin at some point," LeBron told reporters Wednesday.

LeBron, as I'm sure you recall, switched to guard Derrick Rose for lage parts of the Eastern Conference Finals and essentially locked down the MVP. And while Jeremy Lin has had quite the start to his time in New York, he's not Derrick Rose.

And if LeBron's not guarding Lin, it will likely be Dwyane Wade. You know, just another elite defender. The Heat are one of the best teams in the league at creating turnovers and guess what, Jeremy Lin turns it over a lot. If there was ever a measuring bar to really see where Linsanity is at, Thursday's game against the Heat will be it.

LeBron also talked about Linsanity in general, saying “I never watch Harvard basketball. I never watch Harvard.’’ LeBron did tell reporters that he watched Lin against John Wall in the 2010 Summer League though. He's one of many too as that YouTube highlight video has some 1.2 million views. LeBron said he thinks people should celebrate the fact Lin is a good player and not just stick on him being Asian-American.

“I think it’s taken away from it, obviously,” he said.

LeBron on Lin being on a second straight week of Sports Illustrated: "Make sure he doesn’t take that for granted and get those covers and frame them and put them in his house.” LeBron would know. He's been on many an SI cover, starting in high school.

Worlds of hype will collide in South Beach Thursday with Linsanity meeting the Heat. It'll be a challenge for the Knicks, as they're still meshing since adding Carmelo Anthony along with the fact the Heat are really darn good. And for Lin, he's going to have to deal with looking across at King James defending him, which I'm sure is something he wasn't expecting to happen this season.

The Knicks looked very good against ALT. That is the main point. I know they had injuries but you must win and play like a Team and The Knicks did. Now we play Miami. Great Team against the Knicks. This is how you measure your gameplay. Melo getting his legs and shot range back. This could be the Year with Davis -Smith and Novack coming off the Bench.

LeBron says he'll guard Lin some Thursday

During an interview he says the he will guard Lin at some point during the game and you call that an attention grabbing statement. If he had said Lin won't score against me, that would be attention grabbing. Of course with all the switching they do on defense, he will find himself guarding Lin at some point. This hardly news at all and certainly not attention grabbing.

As far as him being selfish, look at his assist totals.
LeBron will get a taste of Linsanity tomorrow night and rue the day that he crossed Lin. Lin is going to drop 35+ with 15 assists similar to the beating he handed out to Kobe and the Lakers. LeBron has no game compared to Lin and you know it. Lin will run circles around LeBron and sky above the rim every trip down the floor. LeBron should learn to shut his mouth and act like a pro and not provide Lin the incentive to go wild and take over.

I haven't seen Lin play, but I will be tuned in tomorrow night. Heard he had a great game against Kobe, but we all have accepted that the Kobe of now is not the same Kobe at his best. The LeBron of now is a monstrous test for Lin. Wade even with his injuries still has legs and defense abilities to create problems for Lin.

But bear in mind Lin has team mates so if the Knicks win or lose it still comes down to team.

If the self proclaimed king is gaurding LIN...i would love to see whos going to gaurd,,or help out with carmelo anthony ,in the mid range low post!
I would imagine that Battier will get a chance to guard Carmelo. Mike Miller might also end up guarding him some. Who is going to guard Wade and Lebron?

Good for the NBA!  Seriously.  There is no way I would have even considered watching this midseason game until Lin came on the scene.  It will be interesting for sure.  How do D'Antoni type offensive teams do against the Heat usually?  That should tell a lot.  And just think, WHO would have thought that a Heat/Knicks game wouldn't be all about Anthony against his buddy James?  My guess is that Lin has some ESPN moments and Anthony comes to play.  But Lin also commits too many turnovers and Miami wears the Knicks out.

Once again, ripping LBJ because a reporter asked him, "Do you think you'll be guarding Lin?"  You dumb arses really believe the Knicks have a chance?  The Heat have been beating EVERYONE by double digits, and it will continue tomorrow night.  I like the whole Linsanity thing, because maybe it will revive the rivalry between NY and Chitown.  However---the Knicks beat the Lakers (who suck) and Mavs, and then a bunch of scurb lower level teams.  Then lost to the Nets, and barely beat the Bobcats.  Be realistic, and not obnoxious.

BTW: if he were the most selfish player on the planet, he would have stayed in Cleveland, and would average 50 points.  Don't think so?  He could do it...he chose to take a pay cut and play second fiddle, in order to win a championship.  When it is hoisted in Miami this year, and next---you'll be eating crow, or just continuing to make excuses.
