From CSN New England, reportedly, Rasheed Wallace is back:
CSNNE.com has learned that the former Boston Celtic forward plans to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers.

...

"His days as a starter in this league are gone," said the source. "I think he knows that, and so do the Lakers. But think about it. Of the big men that are available, is there one that's really better? And if he's gotten himself in shape, adding him becomes a huge get for them."

The Lakers could use a better backup big that can hit from range, as Troy Murphy has severely disappointed, Jason Kapono can't get time on the floor and they lack a legitimate back up center. The question is whether Wallace has anything left in the tank. At 37 years of age, it's going to be a challenge to get back in shape, a challenge to get into the offense, a challenge to be able to play consistent minutes. This is a pretty big gamble for the Lakers, even on a minimum deal.

That said, Rasheed Wallace is back. Both teams played hard, my man, both teams played hard.

Also, can we mention that Rasheed and Ron Artest will now reportedly be on the same team? How amazing is that, given the brawl?

Of all friggin players!!!  Rasheed??!!  Really??!!

With that said...if it's true...then I'd like to see Bynum, Gasol and Sheed on the floor at the same time.  This can really open the bottom for either Bynum or Gasol.  Spread the floor and lets see what happens.  Either Bynum or Gasol can do some damage underneath, or they can kick it out to Sheed to help with the 3 point shooting.  Which will leave lanes for Kobe to penetrate or Fish open for jump shots/3s.  No matter how old you get...you should still be able to shoot.

The Lakers looked pretty good against Dallas on Wednesday.  Against OKC on Thursday, I think they ran into the best team in the Western Conference.  That said, the Thunder do some dumb little things on occasion (shoot too early in obvious clock milking time, turnovers from trying to be too fancy) so maybe an experienced team beats them at crunch time.

BREES4MVP- Lakers fan here...agree w/ you 100%; the Lakers are definitely desperate for help. Their bench is poor, and adding Wallace would only make a slight difference. He's up there in age, and who know what type of shape he's in. The only help he can provide is giving Bynum a breather (if Wallace is in shape). IMHO, Mike Brown wasn't a great choice. He's a good defensive-minded coach, but the Lakers have always been about offense. Hopefully, they will get it together when it counts. :)

The Lakers might be adding 'Sheed, one of my least favorite players ever?

This is a an example of the old saying "things can always be worse".

The Lakers are desperate for a boost.  We knew this weeks ago, however.  Remember... they looked at Gilbert Arenas in a workout??  THAT is total desperation.  Where are all the Lakers fans for the past few weeks, since they gave Arenas a look?? Before the tryout, they were all over the blogs talking about "zero risk" and he "can still score" etc... NOTHING since the Lakers decided he was pathetic and not worth the cancer he would bring to the lockerroom.  Let's get some opinions on paper here, Lakers fans... Will Sheed help? I see him as a fraction better than Arenas, but certainly no answer to any problem the Lakers have.

A year ago Warnertoholt ragged on Danny Ainge to re-sign that old crippled Rasheed the Knucklhead. Things come full circle. I guess he will be better than Troy Murphy or McRoberts! Those guys are stiffs. Here is hoping Sheed hits a three when they play LePuke to win the game. Now that would be worth it! Go Sheed.....! Ha ha!

Good Riddance. Fairweather fans are unbelievable. This is absolutely a precursor to either a trade or an injury to Bynum.

Wut? So signing a 37-year old out-of-shape player who has been out of the league for more than a year means they would trade their starter? Pretty sure if they were to trade Bynum, they'd be getting another center, not using Rasheed. An injury however, given Bynum's fantastic history, would be a nice bet.

A Wolves fan calling out the Lakers? What is so premier about your team? There is still a long way to go for Minnesota to advance even if they make the playoffs. The Lakers may not win this year but they are the team everyone has gunned for and plans against.

If they can get a PG to alleviate Bryant along with a big for Gasol or Bynum this squad could still get deep. Let's see what happens.
