CSN Chicago reported Saturday night and Yahoo confirmed that Derrick Rose has reached a new endorsement deal with Adidas for over $200 million after incentives. Yahoo says the deal is for $185 million over 13 years, with incentives that push it over, while CSN tops it at $260 million over 14

Even on the low end, that's over $14 million per year for 13 years.

Not bad for the Chicago-native.

Rose has become Adidas' signature property along with Dwight Howard. With Rose capitalizing on the MVP season last year, this deal puts him in the next tier of athletes financially. Maybe most surprising about the deal is that Rose's personality isn't infectious. While he manages to come off as humble by saying he deserves MVP consideration even before he won it and saying some un-humble things, he's lacking in charisma and his interviews, to be honest, are like watching road construction. There's some noise, and afterwards you have a result, but mostly it's just a grind.

But Rose is so good (too fast, too strong?) that it doesn't matter. And for a kid that came from his circumstances to now no longer have to worry about money for himself or his future kids or his kids' kids or their kids, that's a pretty great story.

Rose's Adidas line of adiZero is currently on version 2.5.

Why cant people just say good stuff and let it go?  Why this is even news shows that the media knows what to do to inpire all the haters to come out.  We live in a capitalistic society.  If Addias wants to pay Rose 200M why is that any of our business?  I dont see where thats taking money out of your pocket.  By the way you have the same opportunity that Rose has.  You can do anything you want to in this country if you have the right mindset.

I hope he can stay health and hold up his end of the deal, because if I had anything to do with it,  I'd wait before I go giving a guy 200million dollars and he cries hurt every other week.

redsman25, you wrote: "You cannot blame the ball players one bit, only blame any moron willing to pay this. Which of these countries does not do likewise, sir? Many years, the highest paid athlete in the world has been an F-1 drivr or tennis star. Some Bollywood stars are fabulously wealthy and also fabulously popular, in a country whose poverty would make our poor cringe in utter terror. If you'll check, I think you'll find that are some insanely wealthy singers in Europe and Latin America.

No, I don't think that any of what's discussed in the article has anything whatsoever to do with why some foreigners hate us. On the other hand, perhaps it DOES have something to do with why YOU hate us.

But I shall leave that to your psychiatrist. Or the court's, as the case may be.

TheChill11, no, you would not "be able to afford to take (your) 'family of 4' to more than one game a year." The owners would still charge as much as they could. The reason why so many people are no longer able to attend the games, even if they're lucky enough to be employed, is that Free Trade and the Great American War Machine have utterly gutted, first, the working man and, increasingly, great swathes of the rest of us. Don't blame our professional jocks for any of that. Certainly not these kids, none of whom are nearly young enough to even have voted for any of the treasonous bastids who've brought us to this pass.

This is some F'd up world we live in!!!

Yeah, in a lot of ways it really is.  You know why Adidas can pay Rose 200 million dollars?  Because it's been proven over and over again NBA fans and others will purchase Adidas stuff just because a guy like Rose says so, that's why.  It's the same reason Tiger has made a fortune off Nike...

If the general public wasn't so stupid Nike and Adidas would pay regular people 100 grand to advertise their product, not 200 million.

But stupid is as stupid does......

jealous my butt Jobu - how bout 'has a conscience and half a brain' ...

did u read the caption under the picture? ...

yes, this is the same as 14 yrs of advertising for $200 million - and they both stink to high heaven because advertising = bullshed .. because somebody comes up with 30 sec worth of a clever idea is NO reason to put the consumer on the hook for millions of $  ..  prolly 1 in every 100 ads actually references 'quality' - the reason you s/consider buying a product !!

and here's something else to consider - if we gave these egomaniac, spoiled, overgrown children a $100 K a year to play their 'games' they would take it .. because they would have to .. because they could do nothing else - and it would still be a damn good salary .. and i'd be able to afford to take my 'family of 4' to more than one game a year ...

you can put on any sneaker you want - you ain't gonna 'be like mike' ...

and btw, there's no charge to exit fantasyland .. then again, you might actually have to work for a living to realize how bad you're getting screwed over
