The Lakers announced Sunday that Kobe Bryant suffered a nasal fracture during the All-Star game after a foul from Dwyane Wade. The Lakers say that Bryant will be re-evaluated Monday by an ear, nose, and throat specialist and is expected to resume practice Tuesday, according to the Orange County Register

Update: Yahoo Sports reports that Bryant also sustained a "mild concussion" on the play. If so, Bryant will be subject to the NBA's new concussion policy, which requires league approval for him to return to the court.

Here's video of the play from Wade in the third quarter which resulted in the broken schnoz:

Clearly a purposeful foul in an All-Star game, which isn't going to endear Wade to Lakers fans. Bryant stayed in the game and passed Michael Jordan for all-time leader in points scored in the All-Star Game. Wade also famously was involved in the injury to Rajon Rondo in last year's Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Celtics.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported that Bryant was suffering from headaches after the game, which lead to him missing media availability after the game.

Hard foul, yes. But DWade is not known for being a dirty player.

Mentioning Rondo's injury as in Wade purposely committed it is stupid. Everybody knows that was an occasional play (In fact, Rondo held to Wade's jersey before the fall).

just a thought, kobe is the oldest player playing a lot of minutes in the game. he should have been sitting his old azz down and let the young stars do their thing. but no not kobe he wants all the attention and glory. he is already taking pain shots b 4 every game. so let him take the chance of getting hurt. bynum left the game with an injury. Deng left with a wrist injury so what kobe got hit in the nose. go cry him a river

Finally a good news story in the NBA!  Kobe Bryant breaks his nose!  I'm much more of a Dwyane Wade fan now that he gets credit for breaking Kobe's nose!!

My guess is you would be the first one to cry if Kobe did that to Wade. Am I right?

I watched Nada, as in Nada dang gone thing of NBA All Star Weekend. It was more fun watching a good movie. I think it's great Karma that Kobe broke his nose after sticking his big fat nose in management business last weekend.

For those of you saying that it's a contact sport - of course it is. Normally. But this game was not played normally. The entire game was played as if the lane was a no-contact zone. Wade knew this and Kobe knew this. These guys are veterans and they know what to expect. Wade's hack was NOT expected in this game. I have never been a fan of Kobe, but Wade acted like John Starks in a Knicks playoff game. It will be interesting to see how Bryant responds next Sunday - March 4th when the Heat come to play the Lakers in LA. Think NBC is going to run a few highlights of this play to hype that game?!

Allabout... how many rings you got the last couple year that you've "owned the Lakers"? How many do they have? Oh right... shut the hell up before you embarrass yourself
What the hell does rings have to do with it? I'm talking head to head matchups, especially when other Faker fans bring up that the Heat are trying to take Kobe Bryant out of the game because they play later in the week.  Btw, I would be less concerned about the Heat and more about your team and your lackluster performance thus far this season.  Takes Kobe 30 shots a game just to put up 20 points.

Funny some people are trying to apologize for Wade because they don't like Bryant and/or the Lakers.  I don't think he's a bad guy but you don't wrap up someone because they dogged you in an All-Star game!

A joke of an exhibition.  The NBA should simply eliminate this weekend - I do not believe I know anyone who invested 5 miniutes in the whole NBA weekend.  Fail - David Stern.  Hard foul in an AS game?  Shame on Dwayne...no one elese guarded anyone, what's your problem jack-ass?  Shows you how poor the product is.
