Kobe suffers nasal fracture, mild concussion

The Lakers announced Sunday that Kobe Bryant suffered a nasal fracture during the All-Star game after a foul from Dwyane Wade. The Lakers say that Bryant will be re-evaluated Monday by an ear, nose, and throat specialist and is expected to resume practice Tuesday, according to the Orange County Register

Update: Yahoo Sports reports that Bryant also sustained a "mild concussion" on the play. If so, Bryant will be subject to the NBA's new concussion policy, which requires league approval for him to return to the court.

Here's video of the play from Wade in the third quarter which resulted in the broken schnoz:

Clearly a purposeful foul in an All-Star game, which isn't going to endear Wade to Lakers fans. Bryant stayed in the game and passed Michael Jordan for all-time leader in points scored in the All-Star Game. Wade also famously was involved in the injury to Rajon Rondo in last year's Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Celtics.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported that Bryant was suffering from headaches after the game, which lead to him missing media availability after the game.

Kobe suffers nasal fracture, mild concussion

As a Heat fan, I hope Wade did wake up Kobe.  Maybe the Lakers will find a way to challenge OKC in the West. Right now, the Thunder are running away from the rest of the conference. I'd hate to play a well rested OKC team in the finals.

I know they should scare me, but the Lakers simply dont. Particularly now that we have Battier who has always done a nice job covering Kobe. Miami just has too much fire power. I may be wrong, but I do not believe the Lakers have beat the big 3 in a game yet (I believe they are 0-3)

Wade leading by example

Maybe Wade is trying to show LBJ how to play with some heart.  Either that, or he has been going to too many Florida Panthers games.  Still, though, I can't help but think that this smells a lot like "if you can't beat 'em, beat 'em up," or "if you can't beat 'em, injure 'em."
Miami should be able to win an NBA Championship this year without having ot put forth superhuman effort.  I can't help but wonder why on earth they would want to "wake up" Kobe and the Lakers.   The last thing Miami wants is to face an experienced team that now sees them as a "rivalry game" in the finals.

Time will tell whether this was a good move or a bad one, but Wade needs to remember that the NBA can be a lot like the street: what goes around can come back around with a lot more velocity and a lot less class.  Eventually, Wade is going to pull this on the wrong team and suffer a season-ending or career-ending injury.  After all, Wade isn't the only person out there who will stoop to anything to win, nor is he the only person in the NBA who has figured out that your chances to win increase greatly if you "deliver a message."

Be careful what you ask for, Dwayne...

D-Dodd just sounds like an idiotts initials or possibly is an actual birth name. No player in the game now can carry Kobe's jock or credentials. I don't neccesarily like Kobe, but as a Lakers fan, I respect his talent. Low iq's appreciate low iq actions.

I love all the Heat haters.  Its funny how you all have to believe some kind of bullcrap about them.  Calling Lebron, LeButt is not even funny.  At all.  A group of thugs?  Oh yeah, they all dress in the same clothes and they live in Miami, must be thugs.  Heat will win it all this year and you crybabies will only come up with new excuses on why they won or how they cheated.  Freakin pansies.  Lebron sucks so bad he has 3 MVP's and been to the finals several times.  True, he has yet to win it but we all know its only a matter of time.  Stop all the hate and give the man some props for always putting on a show and playing great ball.  Kudos to Kobe for passing Jordan

Sorry to tell you this, but he has only won 2 MVP's. As for being in the final several times. 2 is a couple of times, not several.

more balls at the end of games than anyone.

Sure, as long as it isn't the playoffs and his team isn't facing elimination.
;He's choked throughout his entire career with his team's back against the wall.  38% shooting over a career in those situations doesn't lie.  I hope he sleeps with a Pau Gasol poster in his room after Gasol handed him game 7 against the Celtics when Kobe wilted again.

Wade's an IDIOT....

If this causes Kobe to miss any games, Wade better have an apology ready for Bryant.

Who the hell fouls someone hard while they are attacking the basket in an ALL STAR GAME.

Granted, I have Kobe in my fantasy league and it would be comical to see him not miss any games all year with his wrist injury but to actually miss a game because some IDIOT named Wade decided to stop someone in a game where defense is not played. And yes, I have money on my match up this week.

Classic move Wade, you are slowly becoming despicable.
