The Lakers announced Sunday that Kobe Bryant suffered a nasal fracture during the All-Star game after a foul from Dwyane Wade. The Lakers say that Bryant will be re-evaluated Monday by an ear, nose, and throat specialist and is expected to resume practice Tuesday, according to the Orange County Register

Update: Yahoo Sports reports that Bryant also sustained a "mild concussion" on the play. If so, Bryant will be subject to the NBA's new concussion policy, which requires league approval for him to return to the court.

Here's video of the play from Wade in the third quarter which resulted in the broken schnoz:

Clearly a purposeful foul in an All-Star game, which isn't going to endear Wade to Lakers fans. Bryant stayed in the game and passed Michael Jordan for all-time leader in points scored in the All-Star Game. Wade also famously was involved in the injury to Rajon Rondo in last year's Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Celtics.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported that Bryant was suffering from headaches after the game, which lead to him missing media availability after the game.

I am a Utah Jazz fan, which means that I hate all things Laker - including his Me-Ness, the great Kobe. It's part of our DNA, you know. But that foul was pretty ugly. I absolutely hate seeing guys get hurt, even if it's a player I despise.

So, from a VERY anti-Laker fan of the ol' Jazz: Get well soon, Kobe. I hope that you're in perfect health the next time you get beat in Utah (the good Lord knows we rarely beat you in LA).

Of course, your just like LeBron, lets have my 9 year old take the shot because I don't have what it takes. Typical Kobe hater. Remember, 5 rings and more balls at the end of games than anyone.

calling Kobe a cheap-shot artist is just blind hate towards an all-time great player

Miamitom, you DO realize it's possible to be a great scorer AND an arrogant whiner who lashes out when anyone dare opposes him, right?  You get that that's possible, right?  Go google all of the suspensions and fines Bryant has had over the years for cheap shots against willing defenders.  The only fool here is you for being completely blind.

Karma for being a wimp and not being in any of the other socalled allstar events.
Disagree.  What would he be in?  He's an average 3 point shooter and is a shadow of the athlete he once was.  He has an incredible mid-post game, but there's no all star event to showcase that.

If it's karma, its for the cheap shots he's given over the years to Ginobli, Battier, Bell, Jaric, etc.

Kobe was one of the few players to play hard in this all star game.

By "play hard" you must mean shoot constantly and refuse to pass to open teammates who might take away from HIS night if they scored.  He played like a bitter old man who resented having been passed by a number of other stars.  He definitely didn't play like a teammate at all.  And just before the Wade foul, my NINE year old noted Bryant fouling Wade with no call made, leading to a turnover.  Pretty sure that's all Wade was trying to do in return - wrap up Bryant so he didn't score the easy one.  Mind you, my son was rooting for the West, so it's not like he was favoring Wade for any reason.

Not all Celtics fans are dumb asses. I used to think Wade was a class act 'til I started watching and then after what he did to Rondo last year, there's no room for any Celtics fan to take Wade's side. He's just a punk who can't find a Ho! under 40 to hang out with!!!!!

I am not a heat hater. I agree the foul was a playoff hard foul in an all star game. Try to justify it all you want. It was a ridiculous from behind foul. There wasn't another foul even close to this during that game. I don't think he meant to hurt Kobe, but he looked like an idiot with that hard of a foul in this game.  It left a bad taste in my mouth. I never disliked Wade, but now?  He could have at least came and gave kobe a pat on the behind or something after it happend. thats what players do in an all star game.  It makes me think he really was just being a jerk.

Cheap hit by Wade. The East joked around, did stupid things like dance during the intro, had Howard throwing up 3's. They acted like a bunch of conceited divas but didn't even bother to play hard, then suddenly Wade hammers Kobe- pitiful.

Not sure why all this hate directed towards Kobe in these posts; Kobe was one of the few players to play hard in this all star game. He plays hurt and plays hard all the time. A broken nose and concussion are nothing to joke about.

wow...lot of Kobe haters out there...fact is. if the shoe was on the other foot, you would all be screaming for Kobe's head and Wade would be crying like the big baby that he is.
