The Lakers announced Sunday that Kobe Bryant suffered a nasal fracture during the All-Star game after a foul from Dwyane Wade. The Lakers say that Bryant will be re-evaluated Monday by an ear, nose, and throat specialist and is expected to resume practice Tuesday, according to the Orange County Register

Update: Yahoo Sports reports that Bryant also sustained a "mild concussion" on the play. If so, Bryant will be subject to the NBA's new concussion policy, which requires league approval for him to return to the court.

Here's video of the play from Wade in the third quarter which resulted in the broken schnoz:

Clearly a purposeful foul in an All-Star game, which isn't going to endear Wade to Lakers fans. Bryant stayed in the game and passed Michael Jordan for all-time leader in points scored in the All-Star Game. Wade also famously was involved in the injury to Rajon Rondo in last year's Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Celtics.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported that Bryant was suffering from headaches after the game, which lead to him missing media availability after the game.

What Wade needs to know is that Kobe will drop a extra 30 maybe 40 on them just to call it even.

Sure, because this is 1994, after all.  Dude averages about 30.  You're predicting 60 or 70 from a jump shooter?  Can't wait to see that happen.

How Weird?  In a game that denudes the athletic qualities of the players, i.e., promotes the image of no defense, Kobe gets hacked by D-Wade and suffers an injury.  I think the ASG leaves a bad impression.  My friends think the NBA plays no defense so they prefer the College game.  Not me, but I understand their view.  My suggestion is to stop the All Star Weekend so the players can rest instead of being goofy.  It does the game no good.  88 points in the first half by the West only supports the claim of no defense.  I watch virtually every night and I know the games are usually strongly contested.  Nonetheless, try to convince nay sayers who watch the allstar game (while their spouses are watching the Academy Awards---Iich.) and looking to see what all the Linsanity is about. I am told, the big winner was a silent movie.  Even my kids won't watch black and white movies and they are 40.

It is sad that the NBA missed a grand opportunity to play an actual GAME instead of the BS they displayed.  It did the League no good.  Believe Me.  It was a Dolph Schayes moment going back to what the league was a half century ago.

This was one of the best All Star games in years. We all hate to see any one take a hack especially when it was totally unnecessary. Now we all know that Wade is perfectly capable of going high to block the shot and really did not need to take what some might call a flagrant foul. It was close. Kobe a solid guy and he will be ok. What Wade needs to know is that Kobe will drop a extra 30 maybe 40 on them just to call if even. Wade is a good guy but has seemed out of touch with his good game of late. This is James team. A lot of people do not like James but I do not think James would have done the hack attack that Wade did on Kobe. Like him or not James is fun to watch and mostly seems to be a class act. After last night I am not sure about Wade. It will work it self out and will just make the playoffs more interesting. I would certainly not bet against Kobe to come out on top.

You can clearly see in the slow mo that Wade was wraping his arms around Kobes arms. You dopes that say Wade was trying to hurt him are just idotic, probably Bulls fans.

No big deal, Kone is not going to miss any time.  Kobe has a slight fracture of the nasal cavity and got his bell was rung a little.  This is a non-issue he was fin right after it happened.  Nopt like he blew his aCL out or had a high ankle sprain..this is nothing.

It will be interesting to see how Bryant responds next Sunday
Lakers fans are hoping its better than that ridiclous 7-24 he just threw up against Durant when Gasol was having a field day early but Bryant wouldn't stop shooting.  Can't blame him though.  After going 4-15 the night before you knew he was just going to keep chucking up shots to "shoot his way out of it".

You're right, NBC will hype this up beyond what it is.  Bryant had just hacked Wade, Wade tried to make sure Bryant didn't get the layup, and caught Bryant's nose.  Big deal.  This isn't like Minnesota and Dallas fans laying in wait for Bynum after his actually dangeros cheap shots.
