The Lakers announced Sunday that Kobe Bryant suffered a nasal fracture during the All-Star game after a foul from Dwyane Wade. The Lakers say that Bryant will be re-evaluated Monday by an ear, nose, and throat specialist and is expected to resume practice Tuesday, according to the Orange County Register

Update: Yahoo Sports reports that Bryant also sustained a "mild concussion" on the play. If so, Bryant will be subject to the NBA's new concussion policy, which requires league approval for him to return to the court.

Here's video of the play from Wade in the third quarter which resulted in the broken schnoz:

Clearly a purposeful foul in an All-Star game, which isn't going to endear Wade to Lakers fans. Bryant stayed in the game and passed Michael Jordan for all-time leader in points scored in the All-Star Game. Wade also famously was involved in the injury to Rajon Rondo in last year's Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Celtics.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported that Bryant was suffering from headaches after the game, which lead to him missing media availability after the game.

I agree!!!  That HEAT team has become a gang of thugs led by LeButt.  I'm certainly no fan of Kobe the man, BUT he is one helluva hoops player ... and this being a glorified exhibition game, that kind of behavior was TOTALLY uncalled for!! GLAD THAT THE WEST WON!!! AND that Durant got MVP!!! GO THUNDER!!!

Wade's part of the new "can't win by leading a team by myself, so I'll get with others who can carry me and carry the team" NBA mentality.  But even with that, this play was incredibly low class.  He should have been ejected on the spot.  But since the officials weren't really there anyway, calling anything (with their WWE approach), not surprising they just let it go.

I'm not a fan of either team. That being said that was a cheep shot by Wade. No hard fouls to that point in the game and he bsically clothes lines Kobe across the face and chest after he burned him again. Should have been a flagarant foul. Hopefully the league will suspend Wade for a few games.

Let me start out by saying I h8 Kobe and D Wade.  That said  Kobe was burning D-Wade all game.  I don't care what the stat lines say.  When it was one on one,  Kobe got the best of him.  I just can't believe Kobe is still this good.  Another typical LEbron game.  HE's the greatest player to ever play the game until crunch time.

lafatman.

Rose has played through a pretty large amount of injuries in his career already. I see no problem in him sitting out games in a condensed season, when the Bulls have managed to stay tops in the league anyways.

Someone should have fouled Wade... HARD.  That was bush league.  In a game with little defense and most dunks going completely uncontested, it seemed Wade was pissed Kobe spun and blew by him on the baseline so he fouled hard.

I liked Wade, but not so much anymore.  That was completely uncalled for.  If they were playing defense the whole game... fine, then MAYBE it would be okay, but in that game, it was not.

DodgerDoc:  You are wasting your breath....guys like allabout think that they hang banners for regular season victories....just let him believe that is the case.  True championship franchises (Lakers, Celtics, Bulls) know it is about the rings and banners hanging in the arenas.  Allabout....you are right...the Heat have owned the Lakers since 2000......wink...wink...how many titles have the Lakers won since 2000?  I would say the Heat have won the small, unimportant battles, while the Lakers have won the WARS!
I was mentioning recently, not the early 2000's WarnertoHolt.  It's actually me who's at fault for wasting my breath on you, and not DodgerDoc on me.  As for championship banners, you guys had your run, but I don't see any in your near future.  The Heat on the other hand only have to worry about the Bulls and the Thunder, not the Lakers.  Times are changing in the NBA, and you'd better get used to it.  It's already been well documented by various media outlets on how inept the Lakers front office is, it'll be interesting to see if Kobe gets his way out of town for a chance at ring number 6.  It's also funny how much crap you talk, considering the Lkaers are not even the better team in their own arena anymore.

Kobe Bryant is tough as they come in the NBA, so I don't see him missing any games.  On the other hand if it had been Dwyane Wade or Derrick Rose, they'd have to sit out a week for this injury.  Wade sits out a week if he gets a hangnail.  Kobe made no big issue of it, so no one else should, even though it was a busch league move.
