The Lakers announced Sunday that Kobe Bryant suffered a nasal fracture during the All-Star game after a foul from Dwyane Wade. The Lakers say that Bryant will be re-evaluated Monday by an ear, nose, and throat specialist and is expected to resume practice Tuesday, according to the Orange County Register

Update: Yahoo Sports reports that Bryant also sustained a "mild concussion" on the play. If so, Bryant will be subject to the NBA's new concussion policy, which requires league approval for him to return to the court.

Here's video of the play from Wade in the third quarter which resulted in the broken schnoz:

Clearly a purposeful foul in an All-Star game, which isn't going to endear Wade to Lakers fans. Bryant stayed in the game and passed Michael Jordan for all-time leader in points scored in the All-Star Game. Wade also famously was involved in the injury to Rajon Rondo in last year's Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Celtics.

The Salt Lake Tribune reported that Bryant was suffering from headaches after the game, which lead to him missing media availability after the game.

Kobe suffers nasal fracture, mild concussion

Kobe has a pretty high pain threshold. His eyes were barely even watering which would be a normal reaction to getting smacked in the nose.   Not that I want any player to get hurt, but Kobe definitely got some karma on that one.  The many cheap shot elbows and flailing arms he has used to smack people in the face came back on him.  Wade did not mean to break his nose only wrap him up.  Kobe was going up as Wade was coming down and Wades forearm hit his nose. I was wondering why Wade didnt immediately come over and apologize.  There must have been something else going on that we the viewers missed.

Of course Kobe can take care of himself on the court.  That has never been an issue.  This is a guy who plays with all types of injuries.  But, yes, that was a hard foul.  Wade could have grabbed him or something instead of flinging his arms over Kobe's back and striking hiim in the face.  No, I don't believe it was intentional by Wade to hurt Kobe.  And I know that Kobe didn't view it that way either.  It's part of the game.  If it wasn't an All-Star game, that would have easily been a flagrant foul.  But, the All-Star game, for the most part, is about having fun.

Kobe got a busted nose and a mild concussion.  That's pretty minor considering his other history of injuries.  No big deal.

Kobe suffers nasal fracture, mild concussion

That was so clearly an accident and not a hard foul at all. Kobe has shown in the past that he will respond to thugish play...and he didn't respond to this. Lakers fans need to stop acting like Kobe is some little China Doll...he's perfectly able to take care of himself on the court.

Yes... Wade only thinking about the regular season banners. That's why he has that championship one hanging from the rafters... right?

DodgerDoc:  You are wasting your breath....guys like allabout think that they hang banners for regular season victories....just let him believe that is the case.  True championship franchises (Lakers, Celtics, Bulls) know it is about the rings and banners hanging in the arenas.  Allabout....you are right...the Heat have owned the Lakers since 2000......wink...wink...how many titles have the Lakers won since 2000?  I would say the Heat have won the small, unimportant battles, while the Lakers have won the WARS!

That's what the idiot gets for acting like it's a real game. But then again it's that competitive nature that has made Kobe the baller that he is.

MJ, Kobe, Bird.....you can't find anybody that hates losing more than these guys. I remember reading an article about Bird that said he even hated losing to his kids in a game of Candyland.

They were talking about this on ESPN radio today, according to them Bryant had been fouling Wade all game long so Wade got fed up and decided to give him a good one back. I didn't watch the game..well I watched the 1st quarter and then gave up, so I don't know what actually happened.
