UPDATE: Kobe will play Wednesday, wearing a mask.

Kobe Bryant may not miss any action after all. (Getty)
You knew Kobe Bryant would do everything in his power to make it back to the floor for Wednesday night's game against the Timberwolves. And early reports indicate that's exactly what's happening. As part of the NBA's new concussion policy, Bryant had to clear a series of neurological tests as well as a series of performance drills without suffering any lingering symptoms of the concussion he suffered from Dwyane Wade's foul during the All-Star Game last sunday.
Kobe has passed all of the tests mandated thus far (neurological, bicycle, Axon and treadmill).

Bottom line is that if Kobe passes the 2-on-2 hoops test now, & another w/neurologist pregame, he may well be able to play.

The Lakers also indicated that Bryant has been symptom-free since yesterday afternoon when the specialist he saw advised an additonal MRI and a visit with the neurologist. Those are all positive signs. While Bryant will try and push through, the team and league will be very cautious with their approach considering the nature of the injury and the fact that his symptoms lasted more than 24 hours. But, you know Kobe...
If Bryant is cleared by the neurologist before the game, he WILL start and play against the Timberwolves.

We'll keep you updated on Bryant's status before gametime.

ask yourself, if Kobe would have done this to Wade, would you have that same feeling?

Sure, because the play wasn't dirty.  He was trying to stop a layup.  The fact he caught his schnoz was a fluke, unlike Bryant's attempts to injure players in the past.  Wade wasn't giving up a layup, but no reasonable person could have expected a cracked nose from such a weak defensive effort.

I don't think

That seems obvious.  You provided a post full of amateur psychoanalysis with no basis whatsoever other than your status as a Lakers fan.

D. Wade will now have this to be remembered by and he will have to overcome his new reputation as a thug.
A laughable statement at best.  What does that even mean?  He'll have to overcome his reputation as a thug?  To do what?  How does a thug reputation, primarily in the minds of Lakers fans, affect him in any way?  You think he's going to lose endorsements?  MVP votes?  His endorsements are locked and he wasn't going to be an MVP anyway.  So what's the impact on Wade that makes him have to "overcome" the reputation you've given him?

The point earlier was, Bryant has always been chippy at best and dirty at his worst.  I don't shed a tear over a guy like that when he gets a boo-boo from a play that is a lot less dangerous than some of things he's done.  What goes around comes around, all-star game or not.

Kobe clears tests, could play Wednesday

Agree with most bloggers... the shot from Wade was a cheap shot and totally uncalled for on Kobbe... the All-Star game is a joke because no one ever goes all out... it is a showcase for the NBA stars...

Is this the way the Magic want to get to the finals? By putting a HOFer out of commission in a game that means absolutely nothing?

Never thought Wade was a thug... maybe it is the lebron influence...

The conversation seems to be getting away form the bottom line, which is that the foul Wade committed happened in an All Star game and was probably the hardest foul anyone has seen at the All Star game when it was not the 4th Quarter. I would even say that the foul was borderline dirty as Wade's arms did go above the shoulders and when you couple that with the fact it was done in the 3rd quarter with over 8 minutes left, you have got to conclude it was certainly uncalled for at the time in an All Star game. I must agree that Wade does not like Kobe and I tend to lean towards the reason being is that Wade is a little jealous because, let's be clear here, Kobe is recognized as a better player with a more successful career than Wade. I think any NBA analyst would agree with that analysis. I see post's here that wants us to go review all the "cheap" shots Kobe has done in his career and then bring Bynum in that discussion and then of course Artest/World Peace, but, how can that even be part of the discussion when Wade did this in an All Star game?!? I mean let's deal with the reality of the situation here and ask yourself, if Kobe would have done this to Wade, would you have that same feeling? I don't think so, these post's would be FILLED with Kobe is a dirty player and he would be villified for doing that to Wade and knowing Wade, he would have tried to retaliate at the time and would have made this a much bigger deal than Kobe did. Clearly the fould crossed the line and was a cheap shot, because it happened in an All Star game. D. Wade will now have this to remembered by and he will have to overcome this new reputation as a thug.

D. Wade is a thug and a goon who I used to like but now he will stoop to any level to win, even in a typically friendly all-start game and when it comes to possibly ending someone's career.

Holy crap, that's funny stuff.  Go check out a sampling of the cheap shots Kobe's handed out over the years - a lot dirtier, dangerous, and more vicious than a guy trying to wrap him up and catching his schnoz.  Then spend some time looking at the cheap shots your men Bynum and Artest have handed out, then just quit liking the Lakers altogether.  "possibly ending someone's career"?   Hyperbole much?  Ridiculous.

I think D-Wade is just turning into a hater cause Kobe's 4 ahead of him in Rings and he knows its getting to late to get there. Also they play same position (SG) so he shows anger at him. Poor Wade should spend more time trying to work on fundamentals of game rather than being competitive in a negative way.

I feel bit sorry for him.

Kobe's only one ahead in the more relevant stat -- Finals MVP.  By your beancounting, Robert Horry is better than Kobe OR Michael, and we know how ludicrous that is. But even the most diehard Kobe fans have to admit that he doesn't get any of those first three without Shaq's three finals MVPs.  IFFFFF the Heat win the championship this year, you can be pretty sure it will be on Wade's back when LeBron goes into choke mode, and then Wade and Kobe will be tied.

I'm sorry but Bryant still doesn't get it.  The way he left K-Love hanging on that high five in the all-star game showed he's still a little punk.  Act like a pro and change your diaper you little baby.

Feel sorry for him?  What rock do you live under?  Wade is a top 5 NBA player in the world and his girlfriend is Gabrielle Union.
