The 5 Most Important Laker Regular Season Games..

Hello friends.  Long time without a blog entry here, just not much going on right now.  I did see the re-signing of shannon brown which is very positive but not something that shocked me.  It was clear once teams continued to pass on Brown that he was coming back.  But anyway I was taking a look at the Lakers schedule and im going to give you the 5 that I think will be the most competitive and the most important for the Lakers during the regular season.  Having said that it is just the regular season but it doesn't mean we cant have some fun with it.  Feel free to throw your top 5 in there in your responses!

#5-  October 26th Vs Houston(Ring Night)-  The Lakers have been historically pretty poor on ring nights.  Lets hope that tide changes this season.  I will be very intrigued to see how the Lakers come out in this game.  Will that ring give them a feeling of accomplishment and will they lose focus??  Or will they come out and show us all their determination to 3-peat?  Even though im a bit pessemistic at times, I think the lakers come out focused in this one.  I think there will be a bit of a chip on the shoulder due to the Miami Heat Love around the league.

#4-  February 10th At Boston-  Ahhh, we all love rematches.  This will be the 2nd installment of the Lakers Vs. Celtic rematch for the upcoming season(the lakers play Boston first at staples in January.  I think the road game will be most important however because I believe championship teams need to win on the road and in hostile environments.  We all know the Lakers can do just that, I just think it will be more important for the Lakers to win in Boston rather than beating Boston in L.A.

#3-  February 27th At Oklahoma City-  Why this game you ask?  Why not the Celtics here in January?  Simple, this Thunder team is a force to be reckoned with.  Kevin Durant will be a year better and a year more mature.  With the playoff experience they gained against the lakers last season all these games vs the thunder this year will be tough.  But this particular game is in OKC and its on national TV.  The Thunder will not be lacking confidence, thats for sure.  They were about 2 seconds and a Pau Gasol tip in away from sending the series against L.A to 7 games.  It will be a nice measuring stick not only for the Thunder but for the Lakers too.  Could this be a WCF preview?  Could be.

#2-  March 10th At Miami-  The lakers will be in the middle of a grueling 4 game road trip with games against dallas, atlanta and san antonio and the heat.  If the Lakers can find a way to go into miami in the middle of that road trip and pull out a W it will be a huge confidence booster and a pretty tough loss for Miami to overcome.

#1-  December 25th Vs Miami-  This ones a no-brainer I think.  Is there any game more anticipated and bigger and more important than this one??  Nationally televised on Christmas against the heat.  Last season the Lakers were humiliated by Cleveland on Christmas, lets hope that does not happen again.  I doubt Kobe lets the 3-stooges roll into L.A and upset the Lakers on Christmas.  Either way, this game is going to be one of the bigger regular season match ups in recent memory.

The 5 Most Important Laker Regular Season Games..

I like the Shannon signing because it happened after the Blake signing. Shannon will really after to work for his minutes, and I think that benefits him. It also says alot about a kid his age that he didn't jump ship for more minutes like, say, Jordan Farmar did. Shannon seems interested in winning rings, and it's hard not to get behind a guy like that.

As far as the games you chose, I;m interested in all of 'em of course-but because their going for three in a row it's hard to put too much stock in the regular season. there are two things they need to do during the regular season to get them ready for when the real NBA season begins-stay healthy, and stay interested. the off-season signings they made should help with both.

Very excited about the Christmas day matchup w/Miami-how could you not be?

The 5 Most Important Laker Regular Season Games..

Hey B, I love when I see a new blog entry from you brother, keep up the good work!

Yeah, I saw that thread-and I can't help but wonder if some of it is disingenous and just posted to cause a stir. Because no hoop fan with an IQ above salad-bar level would say that-not seriously. I think the honeymoon is in full effect in Miami, but once they lose their first game(yes Heat fans they will lose at some point this year!)half these people will be killing their team.

The 5 Most Important Laker Regular Season Games..

What up lakerdaddy?? Great to have your input on the blog man, anyway i agree with you, this whole thing is getting sickening.  As a matter of fact I was on the NBA general board just reading the other day and I came across a Thread that was saying how the combo of james and wade is better than pippen and jordan.  Here you got 2 guys who won 6 rings together and 3-peated twice and you got 2 guys who have won nothing yet together and havent even played a single game together.  Wade is the only one with any championship credentials with his ring in 06.  Just laughable.  I would be excited if i was a heat fan, but i would use my head too.  Lets play some games first before we start making these predictions.

Someone please explain why Myopic Heat fans continue to proclaim their team's greatness before a single practice has been held?
Honestly, you guys get a few good players together and suddenly all rational thought exits the building in place of an NBA2K10 mentality.

Listen, I don't blame Heat fans for being excited, but dammit man slow your roll. They've done NOTHING. And the two big free agents they acquired? Grand total of ZERO rings. Say it with me-ZEEEEEEEEERRRRRROOOOOOOO.

Around here you have to earn that kind of respect, and they haven't. I'd pick the C's ahead of them right now, simply because they're a proven commodity.

The 5 Most Important Laker Regular Season Games..

To be honest, I feel as though if the Lakers win it will be a serious upset, simply because of how good the Heat are.

Wow.. really?  Exactly what is the Miami Heat's record?  What have they really done except acquire LeChoke James and Chris Bosh to join D Wade along with a handful of very average roleplayers.  Chemistry is a huge issue in basketball and it is going to be a huge question mark for the Heat.  No doubt the Heat have a ton of potential, but to assume that they are the best team in the league right now is a joke.  Especially when u consider there is a team out there, Lakers, that have been to 3 straight Finals and won the last 2.

Jerry i agree 100% man.  But this blog entry is about the Regular season not the postseason.  If the heat do win on christmas it will be disappointing but as you said it means nothing as far as the finals go.  But this entry was meant to highlight the top regular season games for the Lakers.  But I do agree and you make a very good point.

If the Lakers lose at home to the Heat on christmas it may be an upset for Lebron Laughing an upset-to-be. some kind of reminder Laughing
As you all remember Cavs won in LA on christmas last year, and didn`t even make the finals, Lakers won the title.

So Miami you are very welcome to win just one game @ Lakers. But it takes a lot more to beat them 4 times in the Finals.
I think that Lakers are better as a team than Heat. And, as a life-long Knicks fan, I wish all the best to the Lakers this year Laughing

yeah nanding i would have to agree with you.  No disrespect to the celtic fan but we dont crown champions based off of the offseason.  Have the heat clearly gotten better??  For sure, no question about it.  Could they win the NBA title this season??  Sure, but will they?  Who knows.  If the lakers lose at home on christmas it will be an upset, bottom line.  If your the defending champs and you have kobe bryant and your team has improved in the offseason as the lakers have your expected to win.  Bottom line, the heat are going to be a beast and im pretty much convinced it will be miami vs the lakers in the finals, but lets wait and see what happens.

TheAwesomeOne,that was a pretty bold statement you have there. The Heat above the rest ofthe league?Do you play basketball?

Let me tell you something.Basketball is a team be able to win the championship you had to have a unit that is functioning well.Well I can see that the Heat have onlythree players who shall we say winning players. After Lebron james,Chris Bosh and DwyaneWade who else you can count on?A bunch of has been players?

Compare to the the Lakers which is a complete team from top to bottom.

I cannot blame you for putting your bets against the Lakers.Your Celtics were the whippingboys of the Lakers.
