Turner Gill picks up his first win at Kansas

Well the Turner Gill Era in Lawrence is certainly off to an interesting start.

A week after an embarrassing opening game 6-3 loss to North Dakota State -- one that had Jayhawk fans quickly updating Gill's Wikipedia page -- the Jayhawks came out and upset the 17th ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 28-25 on Saturday, finally putting an end to an eight-game losing streak.  Though the Jayhawks did make things a bit interesting at the end of the game.

The Jayhawks were called for a punt return interference call after being forced to punt late in the fourth quarter to give Georgia Tech good field position and also picked up a pass interference penalty before finally putting an end to Tech's hopes when Josh Nesbitt's pass fell incomplete on fourth and eight.

Not the prettiest win, but Gill will take it for his first in Lawrence.

"It's a great feeling," said Gill on the field afterwards.  "Our coaching staff did a great job, our players did a great job.  I'm excited for our fans, for our alumni and obviously the University of Kansas."

Things have changed so much in the matter of a week that fans on the field were chanting "Turner Gill" during his post game interview.  it's amazing what one week and a victory can do for a fan base's confidence in their head coach.

Though no word on whether they'll be updating his Wikipedia page this week.
