SMU player accused of sexually assaulting child

According to the Dallas Morning News, SMU sophomore linebacker Brandon Henderson was arrested in Dallas on Thursday night and is being accused of sexually assaulting a child.  The 20-year old Henderson is currently being held on $50,000 bail at the Dallas County Jail and is awaiting a transfer to the Taylor County Jail.

SMU has declined to comment on the arrest, and June Jones wouldn't comment on whether or not Henderson has been suspended from the team, though considering what he's been arrested for, it's hard to believe he won't receive some kind of punishment.

It's important to note, however, that the age of the child that Henderson allegedly assaulted has not been released, nor has any information on when the alleged incident took place.  So I wouldn't go roasting Henderson over an open fire until we learn more details about what allegedly took place.

Tom Fornelli accused of writing the worst article ever posted on CBS

And lastly anyone under the age of 18 is gonna be considered a child in the eyes of the law.

Wrong satan-hawk, try 14....do some research before typing. Anyone 14 and under by law is considered to be a child. The girl in this alleged case was a minor.

Why is everyone overlooking the poster that provided us with the actual story from a Dallas news outlet?  That report indicates that the alleged incident was a forcible rape of the 15 year old girl.  I'm not saying it's true, but everyone seems so intent on bashing the original blog writer that they aren't taking a minute to read the replies, a couple of which have some good info about the situation.  If these allegations are true and the incident was a rape, not consensual sex, he should fry.  Not literally, although I wouldn't object to it, but he should punished to the fullest extent of the law, which in Texas, will hopefully be pretty harsh.

Why go posting this article before all the facts are known? That's just plain old irrisponsible, don't they have an innocent until proven guilty in Texas? Texas, aaahhh that just about sums it up, better test 'Ole Sparkie' now or whatever they 'legally' murder people with these days in the Lone Star State!
Tabloid journalism at it's best, on a par with the Daily Mail!

Nice responsible journalism.  Eat a dick Tom.

I hate the whole concept of this.  The statutory rules were enacted to help protect young women from adult men, not from 18 and 19 year old kids, and not a copout because you're little girl is a whore and cant keep her legs closed.

first off this is the BLOG section of CBS, meaning you don't have to be a REAL journalist to post here, secondly the guy is prob just cut/pasting info from another source so he can only post what's avail. And lastly anyone under the age of 18 is gonna be considered a child in the eyes of the law.

but yeah more info would be nice

dank32: I basically agree with you, except that in most states, the age of consent is 17 or 16, and in a couple of states, only 15.  So to say "it isn't right" if it's consensual with a girl that's reached the age of consent is not accurate, it's just two young lovers.  Since he has been arrested and is held for bail, I'm guessing that isn't the case, though, and that the girl is underage by several years.

I agree, and it now turns out he was 19 and the girl was 15.
