The BCS rankings were just released on ESPN, and seeing Boise State at No. 3 is, at this point, trouble for the Broncos.

What's important to note here is that the BCS standings are, for the most part, resume rankings, and unlike teams in the power conferences, the cream of Boise's resume is done. Yes, the Broncos play in the WAC, but they've only played two of those eight games against that WAC competition thus far. Meanwhile, cupcake non-conference schedules are still being more heavily considered than conference games at this point in the season.

In other words, Boise State's not going to make its case on the field any better than it already has from here on out.

Now, this isn't to say that Boise State's chances are completely doomed; far from it. The Broncos are still ranked third in the BCS rankings, and there isn't much chance of them dropping any games and submarining their title chances from here until the end of the season. If Oregon or Oklahoma lose, the Broncos are in decent position. Their problem is that if teams like Auburn or LSU go undefeated, those teams are basically locks to pass Boise State -- and TCU's certainly not out of the picture, with its high-profile Mountain West Conference schedule still yet to come.

Still, though, the fact remains that Ohio State, Alabama, and Nebraska have all lost, and Boise State still needs help to get into the title game. That's not good news for the Bronco faithful in Idaho tonight.

BCS rankings bad news for Boise State

It's is not just imagine! when Boise plays the big boys it beats them!! we don't need to imagine because year after year after year Boise beats them.SO i want to see them play for it all. IF they are undefeated and if only one other BIG school are undefeated they should play for it all and we could see what if on the field. What would annoy the heck out of me would be a team that had lost leapfrog them to the championship game- we already know they aren't the best- they lost already. Anyway thats my view and I watched Boise crush Tech live and believe me they always looked way better than Tech that day no matter how close the stats say it was.

Schedule is a joke and it's pretty sad when a teams path to the NC game involves only beating a Virgina Tech team(that lost to WILLIAM AND MARY) and an overrated Oregon State team...

We all know Dodd has the hots for Boise. He normally whines about teams playing bad schedules, but he's OK with Boise State's worse than bad schedule. Boise gets kind of tested once or twice a year. SEC teams get really tested 7-8 times a year. That's just life. Just imagine how dominant about 2/3 of the SEC would be against Boise's schedule? That this is even a debate is a joke.

Just to clarify...Fed Ex field is NOT a neutral site.  Give me a break!!  That's like saying that if VT played Boise State in Nampa, Id that it's a neutral field.  ridiculous.  And fyi, while Boise State did beat Oregon last year on their own turf, the year before that BSU went to Eugene and destroyed them in their own stadium.  To make sure to clarify:  BOISE STATE BEAT OREGON TWO YEARS IN A ROW!

Be realistic. How dominant would Auburn, Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, etc. be against Boise's schedule? And please don't start with this team beat that one in some bowl game sometime. We are talking about this year, which is the only one that matters, not some other year and not one game. SEC teams are tested week in and week out. Boise wants to be handed something because it beat a bad Va. Tech team, an ordinary Oregon State team and absolutely no one else. Sorry, they may be the best (I doubt it), but they have no way to prove it against who they play. Life in the fast lane.

Guarantee that one of these OU schools goes down.  Oklahoma plays at OSU and one of them would assumedly face Nebraska or Missouri in Big 12 Championship game///the Ducks have both USC and the Beavers on the road.
But the other commentor is correct...there's a good chance a 1 loss team like Alabama, Florida St (ugh...j/k) or one of the other undefeateds leapfrog them: Michigan St., Auburn or LSU.  It's unfair!!  Gonzaga gets the proper hoop respect...why not Boise, Utah and TCU??
Speaking of FSU...their BCS conference sucks!  Every ACC school has lost at least one non-conference game.
3-0 Vagina Tech lost to Boise and then to 1-AA James Madison.  But if they stay unbeaten in conference would get a BCS Bowl?
Am I the only one who thinks the system is out of order???
What happens when OSU beats will they screw Boise over when they beat OSU and OSU beat Oregon?
LSU vs. Oklahoma in a rematch
Boise gets Utah or TCU (again)

Boise beat the two teams that are CURRENTLY number 1 and number 2... that's a laugh. Well jeez, Kentucky just beat the then #10 team in the country that beat the then #1 Crimson Tide that beatdown the Florida Gators that destroyed the Wildcats 48-14 a month ago. Does that mean UK qualifies for anything because they beat the preseason number 1 by extension?!?

Do something significant like James Madison and beat the Virginia Tech CHokies in their own backyard. You guys beat Oregon State @ home, Virginia Tech on a neutral field (by 3 points), beat Oregon last year @ home, and beat Oklahoma what? FOUR years ago at a neutral site? The same OU team that has won just 2 of their last 7 bowl games. Why don't you guys put your money where your mouth is and play these teams on the ROAD? Nobody wants to go to Idaho to play in that Mickey Mouse stadium on your Smurf Turf unless they are within a few hours of your place (like Washington, Oregon and Oregon State).

If Oregon and Oklahoma are the paper tigers that you guys claim, how come it is that they're STILL ranked ahead of your team?!?

The fact of the matter is is that EVERY single 1 loss or unbeaten BCS AQ school is a direct threat to Boise. Any 1 loss SEC school would pass Boise. A 1 loss Ohio State MIGHT pass Boise. I could see a 1 loss Big 12 champ pass Boise aswell. Undefeated Oregon will stay ahead of Boise, but 1 loss Oregon stands no chance. TCU wont pass Boise in the human polls because Boise beat them last year, and I believe Boise will always stay 1 spot above TCU because of that. The chips are falling in Boise's favor right now, but more have to fall if they want a chance in the title game. I think Boise is the best team in the country, but the BCS system does'nt always allow the best team in the country to play in its "championship game".

Formatting was lost so here is the summary:

Oregon 34-33 in 2006
Oklahoma 17-14 in 2005 Holiday Bowl
Oklahoma 31-7 in 2004
OKlahoma 62-7 in 1975
Oklahoma 68-3 in 1972
Oklahoma 17-0 in 1966
Oklahoma 6-0 in 1958

That is a pretty good indication the Sooners aren't running from the Ducks!
