BCS expert Jerry Palm had a few minutes to chat with Adam Aizer and J. Darin Darst to sort out what this week's BCS standings meaning. Palm also discusses the BCS Championship chances for TCU, Utah and Boise State.

One of the hot topics is a one-loss Alabama , which Palm thinks will play for the national title if it can win out.

If Oregon and Auburn win out, there in the BCS Championship Game. If Alabama wins out they're in.  Where it gets riveting is if the winner of the Alabama/Auburn loses in the SEC Championship Game to Florida/South Carolina.  This is where you look at #3 TCU .8911 and Bosie State .8824. Assuming both teams win out, TCU with a win over Utah should keep them ranked #3 throughout the remainder of the season.
Why not Utah? #5 Utah .7318 plays a weaker schedule than Bosie State. As it stands in week 9, Utah is .1506 behind Bosie State in the BCS average. They would get a boost from a TCU loss but I don't think they could overcome the weaker schedule down the stretch. Remember, the humans making 1/3 of the polls love Bosie State. If the above example takes place, Bosie State would be in the National Championship Game.
Now this is where it gets real interesting. If Oregon losses a game then total BCS bedlam occurs!  Then it is wide open for many outcomes.  This week will give us a better picture about the BCS.

Sorry buddy. There is no way they deserve it over Boise State. If Boise does go undefeated this year, they will be 39-1 over the past three years. That one loss is by 1 point to TCU. Boise in your scenario definitely deserves it, unless the just took Utah and Boise... Which wouldn't happen. Boise has had a way harder schedule this year then Utah too. Virginia Tech, Oregon State, Hawaii, and Nevada when it's all over. Utah will end up with only TCU and possibly San Diego State as teams with legit records.

I think that if alabama looses to LSU, auburn looses to alabama, and utah beats TCU than utah should get a shot at the national title.
