Former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach suing ESPN

Former Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach has spent this football season commentating for CBS College Sports, hosting his own satellite radio show, and now flexing his lawyer muscles a little bit.  Leach's lawyers filed a lawsuit on Wednesday against ESPN and Spaeth Communications for libel and slander, among other accusations.  The suit focuses on ESPN College Football commentator Craig James, father of Adam James, who was at the center of Leach's firing at Texas Tech.  Leach's camp is accusing James, ESPN, and Spaeth of actively conspiring to smear the coach's name in the wake of December's firing.

I may have my biases (Leach was kind enough to sit down with me back in October) but I do feel as though the former head coach of the Red Raiders was mistreated by the media during the time surrounding his dismissal.  People may have their own opinions about how players should be treated, but there definitely appeared to be a distinct slant in the way the story was being reported by certain outlets.  The success of the lawsuit is months away from determination, and some have called this a move of a "desperate man" searching for someone to blame.  No matter who's side you take in this one, we can all agree that re-hashing the details of the Adam James incident will not be pleasant.  For anyone.

You're an idiot. It's no wonder you are still at "rookie" level with stupidity like that spewing from you! Any school that gets Mike Leach for a coach is a LUCKY, LUCKY, LUCKY, oh did I mention LUCKY, school! Have you not noticed what has happened to poor Texas Tech since he's been gone. What, are you Adam's boyfriend or something? No, wait.... you're Craig's lover? If anyone is a piece of "excrement" in this situation, it would be Adam, for being the big, whiny-butt girl, that he is. Then Craig, for not having the "marbles" to tell his daughter to "suck it up and be a man!" And let's not leave you, skreffty, out for taking the time to put your teeny tiny little brain cells into overdrive to muster up your little bit of nonsense!

Little Polly bird brain still calling names rather than offering stats, evidence, or even logical argumentation, but then again we already determined that you are a biased, non-objective homer who hates accountability.  Still none of you apologists have answered the miliion dollar question as to why Leach feels rules don't apply to him, and that he can put concussed players in electrical closets?  I must assume that when you came out of the closet you only hoped Leach would as well.  Again, I don't understand the anger towards me because Leach said practice was imprtant than class.  The dude said it.  Period.  And if you must know Pollyana, I got busted down to rookie for dropping eff-bombs during the Saints/Cleveland game tracker.  Was it wight to do that?  Like putting concussed players in locker rooms, no.  The difference of course is that I realize I was wrong, and I accepted my punishment like a MAN with accountability and humility.  Leach, who feels like the world owes him something, like a small child, did not accept his punishment for blatantly endangering the health of a young man.  Try reading about the young man in Kansas that just died because he played with a concussion.  I must truly question your character when you put winning abobe ALL OTHER PURSUITS, including healthm, integrity, and academics.  Yes, the man can coach an offense.  No, he can't teach young men to become something he is not, a man.  No wonder you like him so much - birds of a feather.

maybe nobody knows for sure every little detail about what transpired within the year leading up to the firing....but one thing is for certain...the evidence is overwhelmingly in Leach's favor...which is why Texas Tech is scared to death to let their lawsuit go to a trial by jury.  And I also Hope that ESPN is held accountable for their mountain of lies!!

Most of these posts are pathetic.  You all talk like you know what happened.  We do not know what happened,  We  do know you will get different stories from different sources.  NO one in here knows the truth so please do not act like  you know it.

Some of your comments are like listening to republicans talk about Obama and democrats talking about the tea party.

Mike Leach is a football genius.  He is also so quick-witted that some people just do not understand him (much like the great Shaq). If you contrast his down to earth, tell it like it is genius, with the plastic, dim-witted James family (and their supporters at ESPN), you can see hou Leach angered people and had a bull's eye placed on his back by the media.

So the "media" made the "genius" put concussed kids in electrical closets?  Fail...

skreffy that's simply a flat out lie! Oh and by the way... isn't it amzing Texas Tech consistently had the highest graduation rates among not only all Big 12 scholls but nationally as well!

You're a putz

How hard is to pass a test on finger-painting?  Leach made the statement that football practice is more important that academics - not I.  I believe Jim Harrick, the ultimate cheater and scumbag, also had artificialy high graduation rates as well.  Yeah, Texas Tech is all about academics.  Now about putting concussed players in closets, how does that help academics, or anything else?  You homers need to grow up and understand that accountability is important.  Thug Leach broke the law as well as common decency, and now he has paid the price.  His lawsuit just tells us what we already know, that he feels he is bulletproof and not accountable since he as a football coach.  Sorry punk Leach, the rules do indeed apply to you to.  No one denies that the guy is a POS.  And your name calling tells me you are as well.  Have a nice day.

Oh, my goodness, Skreffty.............do you need your mommee and daddee to wipe your nose for you?

And this is why so many coaches out there are allowed to cheat and act like petty dictators, because of the aplogist attitudes of losers like kotex.  They could care less about the health of a college kid as she didn't attend college herself.  She just likes to make inane comments without a point.  Please go take a nap little girl and give your mommy her computer back - these posts are for grown-ups.
