Suddenly there are quite a few big name schools with coaching vacancies to fill if you believe the reports circulating on Saturday night.  First we heard that Miami will be firing head coach Randy Shannon -- though this is yet to be confirmed -- and now it seems that West Virginia may have an opening as well.

Though this one won't be due to a firing.

According to a report, West Virginia head coach Bill Stewart is going to retire at the end of the season.  This is from a report on EerSports.com, which is a pay site and can't be viewed without a subscription.  There has been no official word on this from West Virginia or Bill Stewart.

Still, the same report also says that former WVU assistant Rick Trickett who now serves as Florida State's assistant head coach is a top target to replace Stewart, along with both Terry and Tommy Bowden.

Stay tuned to CBSSports.com for more information on this story as it develops.

Mike Leach is the man we need. He will eat the Big East alive and he plays Coach Rod's style of ball. The kind we like and he wins!!!!

Well, Michigan fans, don't get too excited about Harbaugh. West Virginia's new Athletic Director, Oliver Luck (father of Stanford star QB Andrew Luck) is great friends with Stanford coach, Jim Harbaugh. Look for him to invite Harbaugh to WVU. Maybe he doesn't accept the job, but be aware that there is good potential competition.

I was thinking the same thing. Then we could get Jim Harbaugh back where he belongs in Maize & Blue!

They're possibly looking at Tommy Bowden?  A word of warning WVU fans:  you don't want him.  Yeah, he gets great recruits but he doesn't do anything with them.  Just look at his track record at Clemson and you'll see what I'm talking about.  Get someone like Bud Foster, who actually knows him to coach and win games.
