This probably isn't the way Pitt and Mike Haywood wanted their new relationship to get started.

According to a report out of South Bend, Indiana, where Haywood once served as a coordinator for Notre Dame , Haywood was arrested on a domestic violence charge in South Bend on Friday .
St. Joseph County Police say Haywood was arrested around 2:30 p.m. on Friday at a home in the 50000 block of Hawthorne Meadow Drive.
He has a child with the woman living there.
Police say there was a custody issue and the woman attempted to leave.
As she left, police say a physical altercation broke out.
The woman told police Haywood grabbed her by the arm and neck and pushed her.
According to the police report, the woman had red marks on her neck, arms and back.

Haywood was the offensive coordinator at Notre Dame under Charlie Weis before moving on to take the head coaching job at Miami (OH) .  In his second season at Miami, Haywood led the Redhawks to a MAC championship before taking the Pittsburgh job earlier this month.

As of now, the school has not released a statement regarding Haywood's arrest.

UPDATE: We have a mugshot, thanks to KDKA.

I really deemed that it was usually some horrifically dreary result in you paying put up, nonetheless it without a doubt actually paid off when considering time.

His actions are despicable. Even if somehow, and we all know how the legal system works, he is given probation, I would still fire him.  It isnt just his actions it is how new recruits and even present players view his actions. It is sad because I heard him interviewed the other day and he sounded like a good guy. You never know. A child out of wedlock and he assaults her. Pitt needs to do diligence. We all know coaches are not saints but this beyond the pail. A big reason Mike Leach hasn't gotten hired yet(unless Maryland hires him) is because of the perception of him as a coach. I have also heard him on the XM College Sports station and he sounds like he just got up most of the time. While I think Craig James and ESPN helped the Texas Tech cause to get rid of him, his actions were also deplorable.  As a parent of an athlete I can tell you I would discourage my son from going to a school to play for a coach like either one of those guys. And by the way they said he was still in jail? What no money to spring him or they wouldnt let him out?

And that goes double for me!!  I am Elmer J. Fudd, millionaire. I own a mansion and a yacht, and I'm no longer donating any money to those waskally wabbits!! huhuhuhuh. In all seriousness, my real name is Thurston Howell III, and I won't drop another red cent into my alma mater until they get rid of Haywood.

 1942 grad.

PS. If you graduated from Pitt, then they must not have required any English courses back in 1980...come on dude, this is basic grammar we're talking here, yet somehow you graduated and you're now wealthy enough to donate cash to your alma mater?  No way, no how...sorry, but my BS meter went off with your post.

Oh, and welcome aboard! I see you just signed up today <eye roll>.

He needs to be fired A.S.A.P.  I feel bad for the assistants he hired who are going to be looking for work. But you get rid of a guy like Wanny (deservedly so based on his job performance) who is a class act. Then you reach for this guy, and not even a month into it he's beating on women. He already lost most of Wanny's recruiting class. He's got the Alumni aggitated already. It's time the chancellor makes Wanny in charge of all things football & Pederson can handle the rest of the AD duties. Pederson has proved time & again that he's not a football guy. Just look at his era at Nebraska. Swallow your "PITT Pride" & hire PSU's Bradley. You know he wants a chance to shove it in Joe Pa's face that he can be a good Head coach. And who knows, with those ties, maybe he can restore the Pitt/Penn State rivalry.

I thought you were only guilty before proven innocent in France and a few other select countries but I guess we can add the U.S. to that list too. Wouldn't be the first time a woman has set a guy up that's for sure, I'm just saying.
