RichRod to meet with AD Tuesday afternoon

Given all the speculation about Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh leaving the school for another job, possibly for the same position at his alma mater Michigan, you have to wonder if Rich Rodriguez tuned in to any of the Orange Bowl last night.  Maybe he was in his office with an empty box.  Every time Stanford scored, he put something in the box, preparing for the departure many people seem to think is a foregone conclusion at this point.

The only variable in the equation in the eyes of most has been when Rodriguez will be informed his services are no longer needed in Ann Arbor.  Well, that decision could come on Tuesday.  Rodriguez is scheduled to meet with Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon on Tuesday afternoon.
Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon will meet with embattled coach Rich Rodriguez early this afternoon to discuss his future with the Wolverines football program, according to two people with knowledge of the meetings.
It’s not the only meeting expected today.
Members of the football team will attend a 7 p.m. meeting tonight to learn the fate of their head coach.

Which, in my opinion, means that Rodriguez is going to get fired this afternoon.  I've long felt that were he to be fired, it wouldn't be until after the Orange Bowl since Harbaugh is likely going to be Michigan's top choice.  Even if reports say that Harbaugh's not as interested in the job as many thought he would be.

Should it not be Harbaugh, then the smart money would be on San Diego State head coach Brady Hoke.

Secret agent RichRod did his job dismantling a once proud football program to a point that it may never return to prominence. RichRod, you are a Buckeye hero and should have an office in the Woody Hayes Athletic facility.

There is a pending labor dispute in the NFL for next season.  Why would Harbaugh want to be out of work next season?  He will be coming back home to coach.  The report that he was no longer in the running for the job was a smokescreen tactic to keep the kids at Stanford focused on one of the most important games in Stanford's history.

Be careful what you ask for and scUM got exactly that in RichRod.  Not only did scUM hire RichRod but they turned their noses up to Harbaugh saying he did not have enough coaching experience.   At the time Harbaugh had only resurrected two losing programs in the San Diego area including the University of San Diego and after one year at Stanford had defeated top ranked USC in Los Angeles as a 42 point underdog.  That was enough of a sign to know the guy could flat out coach but that wasn't enough for scUM and I completely understand why Harbaugh would not want to take on the scUM job.  Better lifestyle and better connections in Palo Alto.  If he wants to stay in college football he is set at Stanford as he knows how to recruit and knows how to coach and this will be a solid team for years to come.  Losing Andrew Luck is no big deal as Stanford has a strong history of recruiting NFL quality quarterbacks from Jim Plunkett, John Elway, and now Andrew Luck plus they are being coached by a former NFL QB in Harbaugh.  I can see Harbaugh thinking if he wasn't good enough three years ago to be considered why should he now be considered only after he has Stanford in the final top 5 of the polls and is sitting in talent rich California where recruiting better players is more likely than in Michigan where he would have to travel to Ohio to fight it out with Tressell, Notre Dame and other top schools for the best midwest talent.  If scUM wants an immediate winner no reason not to look to Mike Leach as the prospects of 3 years ago are gone for scUM.

Did you happen to see WVUs 3-3-5 shut down pretty much everybody this year?  problem is RichRod and his controlling nature...WVUs 3-3-5 was not so great when he was at WVU...once he was gone and the Def Cordinator was allowed to coach it got much better and continues to improve.  We allowed only 12.5 points per game this year with a 3-3-5. and had one of the nations best defenses.

What a class less comment--saying watch the entire state of michigan melt down. The state has been & will be in a depression forever & you use a sports post to rip it--go ahead & rip on Richrod but leave the state out of it while.

Stanford is a heck of a job & has no reason to leave except more pressure, prestige & a heck of alot of money and to coach at the school with the most wins all time.

Funny to hear a fan of the Indians, Cavs and Browns talk about someone else melting down. Don't you have a burning lake to put out? Douchebag. Jawjack when you catch UM in wins, big ten titles, winning percentage, national titles or Big Ten titles. Or just try and clean up the filth that is OSU football.
