After a day of back and forth, the deed was finally done on Wednesday morning.  Rich Rodriguez has been fired as the head coach of the Michigan Wolverines.  While the potential Michigan opening has been the subject of discussion for coaches such as Jim Harbaugh, Les Miles, and San Diego State's Brady Hoke; the move also makes Rodriguez, a high commodity himself, available on the coaching market.

Many people are quickly trying to link Rodriguez to one of the currently vacant head coaching positions, but sources believe otherwise.  The Detroit News reported that those close to Rodriguez believe there is a strong possibility he will take a year off to spend with his family before returning to coaching.  The move would give Rodriguez a chance to reboot after three frustrating seasons in Ann Arbor, as well as give him the option to pick his options when he decides to return to coaching.  That's not to say there aren't suitors that are interested in obtaining Rodriguez's service.

One of the popular thoughts for Rodriguez's next stop, should he make a move this offseason, is the recently vacated position at Pittsburgh.  With new hire Mike Haywood pushed out just as soon as he arrived, speculation has swirled at the possibility of Rich Rod coaching the rival of his Alma mater.  There is also the opening at Connecticut, now available with Randy Edsall leaving to take the job at Maryland.  Another interesting possibility would be at Clemson if Dabo Swinney is relieved of his duties.  Rodriguez spent two years as Clemson's offensive coordinator under Tommy Bowden before accepting the head coaching position at West Virginia.

Let's not forget that Rich went to Pastilong (AD at the time he left) with a plan to pay his assistants more so he would not have to worry about rehiring every year. Pastilong and Garrison let it out that Rich was trying to hold them hostage again. Which was not true!! WVU's administration had a lot to do with his disappointment and ultimately led to his leaving for Michigan. I would bet anything if we had an AD like Luck at the time, someone who thinks of being great and not one who thinks about hisself, Rich would still be our coach! Rich loves West Virginia! This former Monagah boy is proud of the man from Grant Town! Growing up in West Virginia, I know how hard it is to follow your dreams. Because, unfortunately, there is a lot of negativity and complacency in that region. People would rather tell you cannot do something rather than encourage. Proven by the things I read in these blogs. I love West Virginia and defend it whenver her character is being assalted. So, do not get me wrong, I am just being honest. Good Luck Rich! Maybe we will see ya back in Morgantown in the future. You gave us passion and made us believe that you should never settle for mediocrity. Go EERS!!

Listen, I fully agree to your raw feelings and emotions, however, there is a word called forgiveness and with this guys ability as a coach I was merely suggesting that if he had any 'nads at all he would crawl back and try to make amends for himself.  Notice I said that he should pay WVU to coach there.  Is this realistic, No!  But at the same time IF this dude committed to a lifetime contract, voiding any other opportunity to coach anywhere but WVU tell me you would not consider it if this guy all of a sudden became a sincere man and rebuilt his character through actions and deeds.  Merely a hypothetical situation and despite my disgust with all that has went on with this man it would make me consider it.  Face it, RR is not crawling back to WVU, and all I am saying is what would you do if you were Oliver Luck and this dude did exactly as the scenario??

Really?  Not even a comparable situation guy.  Your ignorance is ludicrous and your attitude crass.  Your comparison is more like being the Manager at Walmart and being extremely successful and making the move to a business that is not nearly as successful but has a "name" to go with it, lets say "K Mart" to appease you.  Well that K Mart just happens to be in an area that is disgruntled because the Walmart I am running is putting the K Mart out of business, and knowing I would be moving to pastures of anymosity and hatred I think the best decisioin would be to stay put.  However, if I left my Walmart and failed at the Kmart after enduring three years of poor sales and was fired and the Walmart went to being a mediocre store in comparison to my days there which resulted in lay-offs, downsizing, etc. then I would indeed feel responsible and you are damn right I would owe those people an apology for being a greedy piece of crap and hanging those employees, which all were my friends because we are all from the same town, out to dry.  That is what occurred and any man with any character about himself and able to take responsibility for the intended and unintended consequences of his decision would see it clearly that his greed and desire to be "somebody" resulted in neither.  So Sir, you have a very nice day and I appreciate your view.

Wow CFB...really???  So you're telling me that if Wal-Mart called you and offered to increase your pay and give you a chance to earn Employee of the Month, you wouldn't bail on your K-Mart job in a heartbeat?

He owes WVU nothing...get over it.
