Mark Ingram and Marcell Dareus going pro

If this whole football career thing doesn't work out for Barry Sanders Jr, maybe he can give being a college football reporter a try.  Yesterday the high school running back and son of Barry Sanders broke the news that Alabama running back Mark Ingram was going to enter the NFL draft.  Sanders said he was told this by Nick Saban on a recent recruiting visit.

Now, not even 24 hours later, the news has broken that Ingram is in fact going to leave Alabama, and he won't be alone when he does so.  He'll be joined by defensive end Marcell Dareus.

Now Alabama fans must sit around and wait for Julio Jones to make his decision.  Most people seem to think Jones will follow his teammates to the NFL, but if Andrew Luck is willing to go back to school, I'm not taking anything for granted.

I don't think Alabama will be rebuilding per se, but in the SEC, teams can't get away with slightly down years and still compete for a championship. So if Jones goes pro, Alabama may struggle next year losing that much talent. On the bright side, Arkansas and most likely Auburn will be placing great QB's.

Ingram will be a average NFL back and I say this because of his injury history, which will eventually affect his career stats.  Trent Richardson is a BEAST!  The kid benches well over 400 pounds and after ESPN ran a special on him, showing his workouts and how they translated to the football field, was even more impressed.  Now, will Barry Sanders Jr. decide on Alabama when eligible to declare?

Move over and make room for Trent Richardson and Eddie Lacy at RB.  The stout DL is reloading too for Bama to be favorites to win BCS title next season.

Or, reloading?  I am pretty sure we have some pretty good depth at both of those positions.

Great for them both, wish them all the success --- bye bye 'Bama...I forsee the term "rebuilding" being used a lot in the upcoming years.

This is a good decision by Ingram.  He already has a Heisman and a National title with Alabama it time to move on and go pro.  He will go high in the draft as there numerous team needing a great talanted RB.  I wouldn't mind seeing him personnaly get picked up the Skins.

I was hoping the labor issues would keep our junior class of top prospects around for another season.  These guys have been monsters for us, and I wish them luck on the next level.  Neither will be flipping burgers or getting carts from the walmart parking lot.  As for Ingram, I'm taking him in my keeper league this year.

Bad Santa, you might want to be informed first.  The new contract will go into affect this year, not next year.  So if there is a rookie cap any player taken this year will fall under that cap.  Last year was the year to leave, and it is also why so many underclassmen left last year.  Know the facts before you spout off showing your ignorance...

Luck is doing what he feels is best for him, the only way this screws him is if he gets hurt.

  • They are not thinking with their heads....all they can see is the BLING BLING!!  Be funny though if the NFL has a lockout if they both apply for unemployment.
