Mark Ingram and Marcell Dareus going pro

If this whole football career thing doesn't work out for Barry Sanders Jr, maybe he can give being a college football reporter a try.  Yesterday the high school running back and son of Barry Sanders broke the news that Alabama running back Mark Ingram was going to enter the NFL draft.  Sanders said he was told this by Nick Saban on a recent recruiting visit.

Now, not even 24 hours later, the news has broken that Ingram is in fact going to leave Alabama, and he won't be alone when he does so.  He'll be joined by defensive end Marcell Dareus.

Now Alabama fans must sit around and wait for Julio Jones to make his decision.  Most people seem to think Jones will follow his teammates to the NFL, but if Andrew Luck is willing to go back to school, I'm not taking anything for granted.

Magoo is exactly correct, I wouldn't DARE leaving school early and possibly sitting a year because of the lockout.  Of all years to stay, this is the one.

Saban shouldn't have been talking with Sanders, he is only a junior and by rule can't be contacted by a coach until July. Recruiting violation.

Dude, are you informed? It is insane for Andrew Luck not to go Pro.  He is potentially the #1 pick and by him waiting means that once the labour impasss happens the one sure thing is rookie contract money will dry up.

Ingram is a man amongst boys and he has nothing left to prove in college.  He needs to tap that top Rd pick money now wheile he can, cuz if he can get 60 over 6 this year, next year he might only get 20 over 6 as a rookie.

I'd be going pro too.  And it is all about the Franklin.

I think they are going with the assumption that their isn't going to be a lock out.  It is unlikely to happen.  Ingram is the #1 ranked RB and is likely to end up on a team drafting 15 or higher.  The Patriots also have a 2 round 1 picks.  I think Ingram is making a good move.  Also, please stop saying...."what with."  You sound like you watched one too may Star Wars TBS re-runs (What with the rebellion and all!!!).

I think it's insane for any underclassman to go pro this year what with a lockout looming.  What do these guys do if the season doesn't come around because of a long labor impasse.  It happened in MLB and the NHL, and what with caps on salaries being proposed as part of the contract negotiations, these kids might want to think about staying in school.  Of course, they might be able to get a job at Walmart or McDonald's until the NFL gets back on their feet.
