Pittsburgh running back Dion Lewis might be playing his final game as a Panther in the BBVA Compass Bowl on Saturday, according to a local report.  Multiple sources have confirmed to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that the sophomore will "likely" declare for the NFL Draft, leaving two seasons of eligibility on the table at Pitt.

Lewis, the 2009 Big East Offensive Player of the Year, saw a drastic decline in production from his freshman season - often having to split carries with fellow running back Ray Graham.  According to the Post-Gazette, Lewis filed papers with the NFL earlier this season to get information on his draft status.  He was told last week he would likely be a third round pick.

Unless there is a last-minute change of heart, Lewis is expected to make the announcement sometime next week.  With Pittsburgh still searching for a coach (and a direction) it might be time for Lewis to make the jump while memories of that breakout 2009 season are still lingering in the mind of scouts.

Not surprised he would be leaving.  The prior coaching staff went out of there way to knock him in the media early in the season. Plus they have no coach. Don't think its a good move but..... Who is the first back drafted in this class?........... Doesnt seem to be a strong rb class this year.

Third round???? HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH!!!! Undrafted FA is more like it. No way this guy is ready and coming back next season could only help his stock, no way he could make it any worse after his decline this year. These guys are out of their minds. Pitt is in trouble. Bradley, STAY AWAY?

If he is an undrafted FA and makes it onto a practice squad then no. This is very risky move on Dion's part. Someone had to tell him that he projected well, honestly I don't know if he will go that high considering the other RBs that are coming out and have a higher profile.

Who the heck tells these guys this stuff? Dion is a good college RB, like a Garret Wolfe, however, there is no guarrentee that he would drafted in the 3rd round. He could go undrafted and try to make a team as a free agent. What money would he make then?

he has a lot more strength and ability to run inside and move a pile than the tiny wolfe.... what money would he make then?... more than 99% of americans

i guess he would make more than if he didn't go pro, regardless of whether or not he was drafted or signed as a free agent.
