UGA tailback Washaun Ealey suspended

When you're a starting running back whose team has just signed their highest-profile running back recruit in years and whose coach has already discussed naming said recruit the 2011 opening day starter, it's probably not the best idea to land in hot water with that coach before spring camp even opens. But that hasn't stopped Georgia junior tailback Washaun Ealey from finding himself suspended by Mark Richt for the second time in less than eight months.

With rumors swirling over the past 48 hours, reports this morning have confirmed that Ealey has been indefinitely suspended from all team activities. The suspension reportedly comes after Ealey failed to show for a "punishment run" last week, and Ealey has now confirmed the suspension to the Macon Telegraph's Seth Emerson:

As indicated, Ealey's future status with the team remains undetermined. After first his suspension last August following his arrest for a hit-and-run accident and driving with a suspended license, and then whatever violation of team rules led to the "punishment run" in the first place, it's highly possible Ealey has already run out of strikes.

If he hasn't, the Bulldogs will return their leading rusher of each of the past two seasons and boast one more sturdy (if not overly explosive) option in their efforts to take the pressure off of sophomore quarterback Aaron Murray. If he has, well, there's a reason Richt didn't even wait until after Signing Day lay out such high expectations for Isaiah Crowell, isn't there?

UPDATE: A Georgia official confirms that Ealey is still a member of the Bulldogs .

UGA tailback Washaun Ealey suspended

IF THEY WOULD STOP RECRUITING FOR SOLE ABILITY AND START LOOKING AT IT FROM A COLLEGE STAND-POINT OF "BRAINS" , THIS WOULD NOT BE HAPPENING ON A CONTINUOUS LEVEL. THE PLAYERS THINK THAT THEY ARE TOO GOOD THESE DAYS FOR DISCIPLINE ! CRACKS ME UP TO SEE GOOD TALENT WASTED BY SENSELESS ACTS OF SELFESHNESS! AND THEY THINK THIS WILL GET THEM INTO THE NFL ? THEY ALREADY HAVE A TRACK RECORD OF CHARACTER ISSUES IN THE NFL...LOOK AT THE BENGALS PAST PROBLEMS! THIS GUY IS GOING NOWHERE FAST! AND HE CAN ONLY THANK BUT HIMSELF FOR THE NAME ACROSS THE INTERNET IN A BLEMISHED WAY.

It should be obvious to all that this kid is nothing but trouble.  Just another hot shot who runs his mouth, and thinks that he is bigger than the system. He will be flippin' burgers at McD's in no time.  That is where he belongs to begin with.  Richt, and UGA, aparently do not bother to look at a kid's background when they sign him.  Perhaps this is due to the ultra competitive nature of the SEC.  That still does not excuse him, or the school.  You just cannot continue to sign every kid who can run, but has to loook at his Social Security Card to figure out his name.

From what I've seen and heard about him, Ealey brings nothing but negative energy to this team. He's always trash talking on the field with little play to back it up and he's always finding a new way to get in the coach's doghouse. It would be a good move on his part to transfer.

Epharias - Another idiot comment from a Gamecock fan who thinks that last year was the start of a USC dynasty. You had one decent year and got killed by Auburn in the SEC championship game. This next season will not as easy as the SEC East will not as weak as it was last year.

That being said, Ealey needs to be kicked off the team as he has used up his chances and I would be saying so even if Crowell had not signed with UGA.
