UPDATE: The university made it official in a press release, Tate Forcier is transferring to Miami.  The quarterback will sit out the 2011 season and be eligible to play in 2012.  He will have two seasons of eligibility remaining when he takes the field for the Hurricanes.

----------------------------------

While Tate Forcier may have planned on visiting five schools in the coming weeks as he tried to figure out where he'd be transferring to, it seems those plans have changed. According to a few reports on Twitter, Forcier was visiting Miami today and has committed to the Hurricanes.

The school has not officially announced it, but it seems to be a done deal at this point.

Forcier had spent the last two seasons at Michigan. After starting most of 2009, he lost his job to Denard Robinson in 2010 and only played in relief of an injured Robinson. With Rich Rodriguez leaving, and Brady Hoke bringing a new offense to Ann Arbor, Forcier obviously felt that his services would be put to better use elsewhere.

Scholarships are year to year.  Michigan could have opted not to renew his scholarship.

Not true at all... not even close actually and certainly not true for a kid you were planning on starting as soon as they planned no starting Forcier.  You think Michigan was Tate Forcier's only option before he chose Michigan?

You don't get a kid that talented out of highschool with the stats he had by only promising one year at a time....

Anyway, it doesn't matter what anybody thinks.  Facts are facts.. Michigan made him ineligible due to his grades.. they never kicked him off the team or pulled his scholarship....

That almost never happens.... only exception is if a kid breaks the law... normally committing a serious crime... other then that, he could have stayed if he wanted to.. Michigan wasn't even trying to challenge that.

Miami's average incoming GPA is actually HIGHER and Miami's average ACT scores are also HIGHER than Michigan. Both of them are excellent Universities. However, to expect Miami's academics to be any easier than Michigan's is laughable. People really underestimate the quality of education at "The U", and It's certainly stemming from their "Thug U" reputation of the 80's and 90's. It's time to transform that image, however. If everyone did just a little research, the world would be a much better place.
Plus there are other factors to consider.  Miami has produced a ton of NFL players in the past few years and some of them leave early so that counts against the graduation rate.  So when you factor in the normal amount of kids who don't graduate for variuos other reasons combined with the early departures Miami's numbers will tend to always be a bit lower than other schools.

This kid that Michigan has now is he Really the answer, or did the Michigan coaching staff miss on Forcier as well as they did on Mallett seems to me if a kid starts as a Freshman, he must have some ability! to demote him after one year may have led him (Forcier) to be a malcontent. The change in offense worked for a while but opposing teams figured it out the second half of the season, a running quarterback, who is one dimensional, will only work if you have other weapons.

Really?!  Did you even read the article?  This article shows the graduation rates of the schools ranked in the BCS standings as of October 27th of last year, this has nothing to do with graduation rates among BCS eligible schools.

Try this link, it breaks down each conference and other non AQ schools:

Tate Forcier is headed to Miami

whoever wrote this article must not know all of their facts... Tate didn't leave michigan by choice. He didn't have the grades and was ineligable for the gator bowl and then got kicked out after the winter semester

You don't know the facts.  Tate Forcier didn't qualify academically but he still had a scholarship with a full ride in Michigan and could have returned next year, go to school for free and try to fix things.  He didn't get expelled for life from the University of Michigan.  He just wasn't academically eligible to play football.....

Leaving was HIS choice... Michigan was on the hook if he wanted them to be for the rest of his education at that school...

So Forcier gave Michigan a break and let them off the hook.....

Once again, you are another person in this thread that knows zero.....

Tate Forcier is headed to Miami

Miami is not Michigan when it comes to academics, so this is a good fit for Forcier, who is anything but the brightest bulb in the lamp.  He also has one other problem.  He is simply not that good.  He was highly overrated while in High School.  He led a team that played a bunch of nobodies to success.  I'm not even sure he wins the starting job in 2012.
Easy there hater. He's just a young guy trying to improve his life.  Maybe he's not as smart as a genius like you and some others on these boards but one thing all of you have in common is you don't know squat about the kid.  And yeah,, he's not a pro.. he's just a kid.

He's simply not that good? Maybe, maybe not. But he looked pretty damn good 2 years ago in a few of the games he played... that's for sure.  And he was playing for a TERRIBLE Michigan team on both sides of the ball with very little if any protection from the o-line.  I'm NOT a Michigan fan, I like MSU.  But I watched him play 2 years ago and the fans in the stands seemed pretty damn excited.   Only this past season when Denard Robinson played well early on did people forget about Forcier and suddenly make him the scapegoat for everything that went wrong previously..

Your highschool analysis is laughable at best and makes you look even more stupid then you really are.  How can his highschool stats be overrated?  Using your logic, isn't EVERYBODY'S highschool stats overrated?  C'mon..... give me a break.   Not one player that has dominated at their position in highschool faced serious competition.... 99 percent of highschool kids never make college football so yeah, the competition is always much weaker then college or the pro's.... all that matters is that a player dominates in highschool.. which he did.

As for you not being sure he wins the starting job in 2012, you once again know less then nothing about anything.  Miami didn't offer him a scholarship with a full ride just to be nice... the starting job in 2012 is his FOR SURE...  now, if his team struggles anything can change but even a dummy like you has to know Miami wouldn't take him on if they weren't planning on starting him.....
