TCU doesn't want a Wisconsin rematch

TCU put a nice bow on their undefeated season with a victory over Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl, but it seems that one victory over the Badgers is enough for the Horned Frogs for now. Apparently UNLV wants out of its season-opening date with Wisconsin on September 3rd, and an unknown third-party then contacted both Wisconsin and TCU with the prospect of the two schools kicking off 2011 against one another.

It was a matchup that Bret Bielema was all to eager to rekindle.

"I was contacted a week and half after the bowl game about the opportunity to play TCU in our opener," Bielema told The Big 1070 in Madison. "It was something that was going to be broadcast and made a big deal, it took me all of about point five seconds to say yes."

Unfortunately for Bielema and the Badgers, TCU wasn't as excited about the idea. Though not because they feared playing Wisconsin. TCU AD Chris Del Conte confirmed that he was contacted about the rematch as well, but turned it down since there would be only one game and it would be played at Wisconsin.

"We already have Baylor for our opening game," Del Conte said. "A team supposedly Wisconsin played last year doesn't want to go back there. A third party was shopping the game around to other teams. I have no interest in playing a one-[time] game."

Considering that TCU has already had its game against Boise State moved to Boise, I can understand why it wouldn't want to add a trip to Wisconsin to its schedule. Those would be two incredibly tough games to start and finish your season with, and if TCU can't get consideration for a national title when it goes undefeated, it isn't going to a BCS game with two losses either.

Though Del Conte did say that he'd make an exception for Ohio State. Seems he's still a bit sore about E. Gordon Gee's "Little Sisters of the Poor" comment.

TCU doesn't want a Wisconsin rematch

Arrived? What's TCU's bowl winning streak again? Well they way you guys act you'd think it was 10 or more, but the reality of it is your bowl winning streak sits at exactly ONE, which incidentally is THE ONLY big game you won all year long. Go ahead and hang your hat on that though, 5 years from now you will be saying ."But we beat Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl". Tell you what TCU, starting in 2010 you better win the Big East every single year, without exception! You've arrived huh? Well we will see, I don't see running from a nationally televised game in Madison as the actions of a team that's arrived, but that's just me!!

TCU doesn't want a Wisconsin rematch

We have arrived you jackwagon!  We won the ROSE BOWL!  Wisconsin only wants this game because of who we lost.  Yes, we would probably lose in Madison, I will admit to that.  All we want is them to come back to Fort Worth for one.  We have done the one aways and we dont have to do that anymore.

TCU doesn't want a Wisconsin rematch

TCU doesn't want to play because of the firepower they are losing. They also don't want to play because they can't afford a loss as they have to travel to Boise later in the year.  This is just like when Boise beat Oklahoma way back when, Stoops offered Boise a game in Norman the following season, Boise politley refused. So TCU is probably gonna follow the Boise lead and ride this win over one of the big boys for the next 5 years or so.

The blueprint for building success has been written by Bowden when he took Florida St to all the big boys back yards in the early 80's. FSU won some and they lost some, but the earned respect doing it. First Boise turned the Fiesta bowl win into a ticket of entitlement and TCU is gonna do the same with it's Rose bowl win. Congrats TCU, you won exactly ONE big game all year long. You're still crying for respect, but don't want to go to madison to play. I understand why you don't want to,  which I've already eluded to, but your fans and AD need to stop crossing your arms and saying "you're not the boss of me", grow a pair and go play the game,. WTF do you need a home and home for? You whine about not getting respect, and oportunity to gain it on a national stage presents itself and you turn your nose up like you've arrived.

TCU doesn't want a Wisconsin rematch

Anywhere anytime M-er F-er!  We beat your best, and we can beat the rest. Including your Wolverqueens who lost by 20 at HOME to Wiscy. Make it a home and home and we are there.  We don't have to play one aways anymore.  TCU is better than any team the big ten has to offer.  You want ben ten revenge?!!!!  Come to Fort Worth for a one away.  We will show you a good old-fashioned arse whoopin!  Texas Style!

TCU doesn't want a Wisconsin rematch

Michigan vs. Alabama in a neutral site location in 2012. Notre Dame in Notre Dame. Oh yeah, Michigan State, Iowa, Nebraska, Ohio State, etc.

If they make a bowl game it will be in a warm weather climate (SEC, ACC, Big XII, Pac 12).

Let's see any of these bowls played in the cold and see how those bowl records look............

TCU plays who??? Sorry that we don't care you go undefeated in a patsy schedule...

The Mountain West is about as tough as the Big East, funny, because you'll soon be in that conference soon... Nobody cares about your Mid-Major conference schedule.

@wiscgc

You are very keen on TCU stepping up and playing in the so-called big Ten and if they don't, then they are not worthy to be considered for the National Championship.

Well, let's put the shoe on the other foot. If big Ten teams do not schedule Big Twelve, SEC, ACC teams... the real power conferences, then maybe they should not be considered for any such Championship.

If the big Ten wants to become relevant again, schedule a game with LSU in Baton Rouge. If you win, then you can call other team out for not accepting a one-sided challenge.

TCU doesn't want a Wisconsin rematch

mykarney, typical TCUer, changing the subject when you have no defense. I'm talking about TCU stepping up to play some big boys, not the Wisconsin schedule (which you conveniently forgot to include OSU and Iowa in, I notice). Let me know when TCU grows a pair and decides to actually try and challenge for a national championship instead of just crying about it each year, about how they are treated so unfairly. Put up or shut up.

TCU doesn't want a Wisconsin rematch

The Hornfrogs of TCU have been kicking arses for years now - winning, winning and winning.  Consistently for the last decade among the top defenses in the country.  They have ZERO to prove - already done that.  What are they, 25-1 over the past two years?  #2 BCS overall last season.  They are VERY good, and tough, and brave but not ignorant.  All they need is a reasonable proposal and they've shown they are up for it.  But expecting TCU to make a last minute cancellation at the behest of some head up his behind 3rd party, when they are due in a rivalry game with Baylor, and 'summoned' to Wisconsin, with no commitment to come to Ft. Worth for a return game, is about the height of arrogance, is it not?  And that from the team they just beat for the Rose Bowl crown.  Used to be challengers came respectfully to the champ asking for a match.  More than that, its almost the height of cowardice.  Wisconsin knows they just lost their starting QB/team leader - Andy Dalton - and many key seniors.  So Wisconsin uses a publicity stunt to try to sucker punch the team that just beat them for the title into game on their turf while TCU is starting a new QB for the first time in 4 years?  Just where is the honor and sportsmanship in that?  TCU will play the tough games next year, and may take a wallop or two.  Beyond Baylor, there is always BYU and Air Force, the conference opener against a leading Heisman candidate (Kellen Moore) at Boise State, and Poinsettia Bowl winner and much improved San Diego State.  But the Frogs are well coached and battle tested.  They will come along fine and by season's end playing like Patterson's Hornfrogs always do...tough! If only there were a playoff system!

TCU doesn't want a Wisconsin rematch

Let me get this straight. TCU is contract obligated to play Baylor on opening weekend. A third party calls Wisconsin about a home game opener with TCU, one and done.  They think about .5 seconds and, of course, say yes. After that, the third party calls TCU to offer them a road game in Wisconsin when they are supposed to be in Waco playing Baylor.  TCU asks is there a return game in Ft. Worth to the third party, who says "no".  How is this a story?  Why can't anyone bring themselves to the idea of committing to a date in Ft. Worth in return for a home game against TCU? Why can't anyone play TCU on one of it's open dates?
