TCU doesn't want a Wisconsin rematch

TCU put a nice bow on their undefeated season with a victory over Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl, but it seems that one victory over the Badgers is enough for the Horned Frogs for now. Apparently UNLV wants out of its season-opening date with Wisconsin on September 3rd, and an unknown third-party then contacted both Wisconsin and TCU with the prospect of the two schools kicking off 2011 against one another.

It was a matchup that Bret Bielema was all to eager to rekindle.

"I was contacted a week and half after the bowl game about the opportunity to play TCU in our opener," Bielema told The Big 1070 in Madison. "It was something that was going to be broadcast and made a big deal, it took me all of about point five seconds to say yes."

Unfortunately for Bielema and the Badgers, TCU wasn't as excited about the idea. Though not because they feared playing Wisconsin. TCU AD Chris Del Conte confirmed that he was contacted about the rematch as well, but turned it down since there would be only one game and it would be played at Wisconsin.

"We already have Baylor for our opening game," Del Conte said. "A team supposedly Wisconsin played last year doesn't want to go back there. A third party was shopping the game around to other teams. I have no interest in playing a one-[time] game."

Considering that TCU has already had its game against Boise State moved to Boise, I can understand why it wouldn't want to add a trip to Wisconsin to its schedule. Those would be two incredibly tough games to start and finish your season with, and if TCU can't get consideration for a national title when it goes undefeated, it isn't going to a BCS game with two losses either.

Though Del Conte did say that he'd make an exception for Ohio State. Seems he's still a bit sore about E. Gordon Gee's "Little Sisters of the Poor" comment.

TCU doesn't want a Wisconsin rematch

Truth is, the frogs missed a shot to make a huge statement to the BCS.  Sure the odds would be stacked against TCU, but if they were to win in Wis to kick off 2011 then thats a whole new load of respect they would've recieved.  Possibly enough to include them in Title talks right away.  TCU said it wants to play better teams, but now it appears the frogs will only play them on their terms.  Can't have it both ways when your the challenger.

TCU doesn't want a Wisconsin rematch

TCU doesn't need Ohio State or Wisconsin to prove it's worth. TCU beat Wisconsin.

GO FROGS, ummmm what are you talking about?  OSU and Wisconsin are EXACTLY what TCU needs to prove it deserves a shot at a National Championship.  TCU went undefeated last year.  Yet they were snubbed for a shot at the Title mainly due to a weak strength of schedule.  If they had beat either OSU or Wis last year then they would've played for all the marbles.  Isn't that what all you cry babies want?

TCU doesn't want a Wisconsin rematch

In 2009 Ohio State pulled the game from TCU not the other way around. TCU already had Virginia on contract for a home and home and TCU did not want to get out of that home and home. Ohio State was not willing to up the anti and give TCU a home and  home to equal Virginia's contract with TCU. TCU is not going to drop a AQ BCS team out of Virginia to play Ohio State when Virginia's game package was more appealing. Ohio State wasn't willing to play TCU on it's open spot on the schedule either, it was drop Virginia or nothing. So TCU didn't need Ohio State and went to sign a deal with Clemson to fill the open spot.

TCU doesn't need Ohio State or Wisconsin to prove it's worth. TCU beat Wisconsin.

TCU doesn't want a Wisconsin rematch

Oh.  So NOW TCU is willing to play Ohio State, huh?  Had that chance to open against the Buckeyes in '09 and backed out.  Hypocrites.

TCU doesn't want a Wisconsin rematch

Losers walk the field. TCU has nothing to prove anymore. TCU been playing Div. 1A college football since 1896 and joined the Southwest Conference in 1923...been playing and winning a long time not only in the past but currently has been consistently top 25 for over a decade and then some (better than most teams ever accomplish).

TCU just spent $130-150 million dollars on a new stadium, you don't do that for one and dones at some other place - it can expand to 55,000 (that is bigger than most school stadiums and bigger than Oregon State and UNLV in which they are willing to travel to).

I would like to have some quality game to go to instead of having to travel everywhere for once. I go to most away games, but we beat these guys, we earned a home and home. If Wisconsin wants TCU so desperately they can call and schedule something with TCU, their 2012 schedule and 2013 schedule is open. TCU doesn't need Wisconsin to prove itself to anyone. Wisconsin needs to lick its wounds, they need TCU to do that.  Baylor is a much better game anyway as the game will be on FOX or FOX SW, Waco is close, it is a rivalry, recruits can make the trip, & fans of TCU can attend.

Teams like LSU, OU, Ark, UVA know the deal & are not afraid to come to TCU. TCU has h & h w/ all those teams. If Wisc wants to play TCU then act like a big boy program and call TCU & get the deal done. Fact is Wisc is all talk and no action (call TCU if you want the game).

TCU doesn't want a Wisconsin rematch

I wish TCU would make an exception and come into the show. So tOSU could whip the skin off their ass.

TCU doesn't want a Wisconsin rematch

You seem a little out-of-date on the conferences out West. Boise St. and TCU will both be in the same conference next year before TCU heads East. That being said, it would be nice to see Boise St. open with Wisconsin if they weren't already opening at Georgia.

TCU doesn't want a Wisconsin rematch

Like James Buster Douglas beating Mike Tyson, total fluke, of course TCU is scared to go to Wisconsin. They will go out and find a little sisters of the poor program to beat on.
