Ohio St. recruiting class finishes with Carter

Ohio State added a 24th and final member to its recruiting class yesterday, but that signee won't arrive in Columbus without some degree on controversy.

That signee is Chris Carter, the 6'6", 350-pound offensive lineman who on Signing Day, Feb. 1, was arrested on suspicion fondling multiple underage girls while pretending to measure them for ROTC uniforms. The arrest threw Carter's future with the Buckeyes into doubt, but a lack of evidence resulted in the case being dismissed shortly afterwards.

After "three weeks of looking into the situation," Jim Tressel elected to overlook the arrest and welcome Carter with open arms :
"He has had a great support system at home, as well as at his high school. ... They truly believe that Chris will have great success on and off the field at Ohio State."
Whether fair or not, Tressel will have to hope that makes good on that promise of "great success off the field," since few players in Columbus (if any) will be under as much scrutiny for their off-field behavior. But if Carter can prove the arrest and suspicion is truly behind him, the Buckeyes will be getting a huge building block for an offensive line that has occasionally struggled against top-flight competition in recent years.

Will any of Coach Tressel's 'investigations' ever result in the dismissal of a student-athlete? How does one become labeled "unworthy of representing THE Ohio State University (or the University of Ohio State, as per Terelle Pryor) ?

How is the joke on me?  I never said they left for the draft.  At the time the suspension was announced I thought it was a joke to use their 'promise' as a reason to let them play in the bowl game.  If this were something Michigan would have done you would have been all over it, don't deny it.   The NCAA has no standards when it comes to suspensions.   Those 5 players should have sat out the bowl game and missed the next 3 or 4 games next season.  Now they bring in an alleged sexual deviant.  Tell me how this is a good thing.
Please sir explain to me. How is the bowl game AND 3 or 4 games next season justifiable. Seriously dude i wanna know what your on and where i can get some.

The suck-eye 5 are no better than aj green who sold his jersey to an agent.
The difference - improper contact with an agent.

Like any of these players will keep their promises to come back next year.
They are all coming back next year.

They should get the death penalty just like green - loss of eligibility.
;

Green got 4 games.  They got 5.  Any other questions?

The dead line to aply for the NFL draft has passed, so yes they are coming back for their Sr. seasons.

They should get the death penalty just like green - loss of eligibility.
Green didn't get the death penalty. He chose to enter the draft. He served a 4 game supension at begining of last season. The Ohio State players are getting 5 game suspensions.

Can I get a hit of what you're smoking?
