Ohio St. recruiting class finishes with Carter

Ohio State added a 24th and final member to its recruiting class yesterday, but that signee won't arrive in Columbus without some degree on controversy.

That signee is Chris Carter, the 6'6", 350-pound offensive lineman who on Signing Day, Feb. 1, was arrested on suspicion fondling multiple underage girls while pretending to measure them for ROTC uniforms. The arrest threw Carter's future with the Buckeyes into doubt, but a lack of evidence resulted in the case being dismissed shortly afterwards.

After "three weeks of looking into the situation," Jim Tressel elected to overlook the arrest and welcome Carter with open arms :
"He has had a great support system at home, as well as at his high school. ... They truly believe that Chris will have great success on and off the field at Ohio State."
Whether fair or not, Tressel will have to hope that makes good on that promise of "great success off the field," since few players in Columbus (if any) will be under as much scrutiny for their off-field behavior. But if Carter can prove the arrest and suspicion is truly behind him, the Buckeyes will be getting a huge building block for an offensive line that has occasionally struggled against top-flight competition in recent years.

Clarett? Man, you're stretching it . . .

He didn't do anything bad until he tried to go pro and sue the NFL.  Then his life became a self-inflicted death spiral.  What are you alleging he did while at tOSU?  And is 'everything else' the stupid stuff some freshman sold three years ago?  C'mon - just move along.

Ohio St. recruiting class finishes with Carter

Has Carter's character been questioned?  Sure it has.  Regardless of the fact that all the fondling charges were dropped.

How someone can infer that Tressel runs a dirty program which lacks control is LAUGHABLE.  Now, If Carter was charged and pled out to physically beating up his girlfriend (now fiance), then Ohio State would be on equal footing as Oregon, Florida, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, USC, and many, many more.  They are not.  Get your facts straight and then try again.

typical buckeye move. When is the NCAA going to investigate Tressel and their program. From Clarett to everything else that has happened, there is no institutional control. The NCAA has knocked on everyone elses door, they need to knock here.

The kid never denied the charges and that has been written in several places.  His words, not mine.
He didn't need to deny the charges.  They were dropped.  Anyway, how is silence his words?  Try again....

blinded to the very basic truths in this case.
I understand the basic facts, the evidence, who the experts are, and the outcome.  Sadly, you are none of them despite your claim of authority, common sense and truth.  Did I miss anything?
;

quit acting like a douche..   use some common sense... Ann Landers did say that common sense was an uncommon virtue, some maybe some of you are incapable of basic fundamental thought.

Blah, blah, blah.  Don't care what Ann Landers says or what femine products you prefer.

A lose with integrity is far better than a win with dishonesty. Character is greater than victory.

Maybe he can help OSU players dress for the game? After all, he is good at making sure their uniforms look good.
