The Michigan - Notre Dame matchup has gotten some extra hype this year, with the recent announcement that their Sept. 10 meeting in Michigan Stadium will be moved to primetime. It will be the first night game in the history of the storied rivalry, and the first true night game in the history of the Big House. Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly recently divulged some even more juicy details about the matchup, telling the media that both schools will be wearing throwback jerseys for the game. He stayed pretty mum on the look of the Irish (the report says Kelly hinted to the Joe Kuharich era -- 1959-62), but gave a pretty good description of how the Wolverines will look for the showdown.

"I'm just trying to help you guys piece together what it's going to look like, without me saying and then getting yelled at by our adidas people that we blew the surprise for them," Kelly told Brian Hamilton of the Chicago Tribune. "But yeah, we're going to have throwback uniforms. As they will. I can tell you what theirs look like: They have a block 'M' on them, and a number, and a number on their helmet. How's that? The adidas people at Michigan are going to be (ticked) at me."

The primetime matchup will be a endorsement dream for adidas, who has largely missed out on the publicity of alternate uniforms in the last couple of seasons. Tennessee made some noise with their Halloween uniforms, but few other examples come to mind from recent history. But there will only be a handful of regular season games in 2011 that will get the treatment of Michigan-Notre Dame. For the last couple seasons Nike has trotted out trendy alternate uniforms for their biggest programs on the biggest stage. Now adidas will get to join the fun for this clash of past, present, and future.

The only reason this is relevant is because the biased media wants us to believe UM and ND are relevant. Come on, these guys haven't been national title contenders for several seasons now! Who the hell cares what kind of jerseys they wear?

A Kansas fan??

Really???

One exception to that rule has been a visit to OSU.  Let me tell you that was worse than a visiting fan at Miami.  Obnoxious fans throwing beer and every curse word in the book just for supporting our team in your stadium.
Everyone could tell a story about things like this...I was with my sister at an OSU vs Michigan game and fans were berating her, throwing crap at us and she was very pregnant at the time....so nice class from the UM fans too

Would I trade Coach Faust or Willingham's tenure for Mr. sweater vest?  Not in a million years or for any price.
I guess that Lou Holtz only started to Violate rules at South Carolina...no chance he did it at ND right?? Same rules apply if you want to say that Tressel is a cheater and always has been

To the Ohio State trash talker...We will see who has success over the coming years.  Personally I would prefer integrity with less wins than the total disregard of NCAA rules that the entire Ohio State athletic department and administration is showing currently.  I will go one further.  I have been to many Big Ten venues including The Big House, Spartan Stadium, Purdue, Happy Valley and have consistently been treated with respect in cheering for ND.  Likewise, many of those fans, and others with bitter rivalries, including University of Miami have consistently remarked that they have been welcomed and treated with respect when they come to ND.  One exception to that rule has been a visit to OSU.  Let me tell you that was worse than a visiting fan at Miami.  Obnoxious fans throwing beer and every curse word in the book just for supporting our team in your stadium.  That is way more pathetic in my opinion than ND's dismal record over many years.  Despite their faults, ND does try to act with integrity in running the athletic department.  Coach Kelly is a man who acts with real integrity and will bring the program along in the right way.  Would I trade Coach Faust or Willingham's tenure for Mr. sweater vest?  Not in a million years or for any price.  Yes, OSU wins, but at what cost?  It profits a man nothing to gain the whole world if he loses his soul in the process.  If I were you I'd be much more worried about getting OSU's house in order than ridiculing other folks, but the rhetoric and behavior are pretty typical based on what I have seen.  It's just sad that selling out for winning and money has become so common.  It degrades the game and sport in general.

tipinmy40...haha an Ohio State fan calling out any team these days...I think if I were a Bucs fan I would duck for cover until the next cover up is exposed. Your bball team lost AGAIN to an SEC team...wait your NO. 1 ranked baskeball team..what happened read too many press clippings? All those wins and that No. 1 ranking for nothing. And to top it off now JT following that lame charade in December has now 'fessed up about where the infamous email went...please. Lying will do you in every time see Bruce Pearl.

So maybe Notre Dame hasn't been that great in a long time...their time is coming. Beats being overrated and overranked year after year like your team. Hope your overrated Bucs can survive that 5 game stretch with that grad asst as your coach...haha...looks like the NCAA may throw the book at your school...oh what a tangled web....now who gets the last laugh..

Michigan football has been around much longer than Canes have hence UM standing for THE University of Michigan.
Go beyond that; the University of Michigan is one of the major academic centers in the world.  Miami is a school one third of the size with a lesser reputation that has 100 fewer years of history.  Schools don't get to claim recognition based on how well their sports teams are doing at the moment.
