Oregon's Haines arrested, suspended

Finally, some news involving Oregon this offseason that has nothing to do with Willie Lyles. Though this isn't exactly good news, either, as backup quarterback Dustin Haines was arrested early Saturday morning and has since been suspended. Apparently Haines was partying a little too loudly, and when the police showed up Haines got a bit out of hand.

Police say Haines became hostile and scuffled with officers. He was charged with with excessive noise, interfering with a police officer and resisting arrest.

Former UO running back Brandon Thurston also was cited for noise, a police spokeswoman said.

The spokeswoman said Haines was taken to Lane County jail. He posted bail and was released on Saturday.

Chip Kelly has suspended Haines indefinitely.

Haines appeared in four games as a sophomore for Oregon last season, carrying the ball twice, making one catch and never throwing a pass. Such is Oregon's offense where quarterbacks have more carries and receptions than passes.

"Such is Oregon's offense where quarterbacks have more carries and receptions than passes."

Actually, such is the Oregon Football program that they will let a player try out in various positions to see where they fit best. Haines is, after all, a walk-on.

Sadly with our secondary last year,  we made everybody look like Peyton Manning.  On the plus side,  we STUFFED your run game.

Yet Thomas throws for almost 400 yards against Auburn -- just a few yards off a BCS Championship record.  Some of the writers on CBS are complete idiots.

Hey Buckeye...that was the Oregon State (Beavers) AD who bashed your program.  I bet you wouldn't want to get confused with Ohio University.

And the other guy who called the UO a school filled with "hos" and "thugs"...well, I have no words to describe your vernacular or grammar other than mildly retarded.

As a Duck fan, I've never heard of this guy...and I'm sure Coach Kelly will make sure we never do hear from him again.  Keep the program clean, and make a clear statement to prospective recruits; you mess up at UO, and you'll have to transfer to an SEC school.

I want to hear what some of the Brass of the University has to say....several weeks ago he bashed OSU and Tressel, maybe he should look in the mirror as  Oregon has more off the field problems than most and has no room to talk about another.

Actually, it might seem like it but this is the first offense anyone on the team has had this off-season.  But even one is too many.  Last year, there were more cases and Jeremiah Masoli was suspended for multiple offense issues.

Seems like Oregon is constantly in the headlines for its players getting in trouble.
