Buckeyes' Bell to transfer to Pitt

As headlines at Ohio State go these days, one delivering news no worse than that a reserve linebacker already suspended for the entirety of 2011 has elected to transfer might be downright welcomed, just for being something less than catastrophic.

We'll hope so for those beleagured Buckeye fans' sake, since that headline has arrived. According to 247Sports affiliate Bucknuts, redshirt sophomore linebacker Dorian Bell -- after being suspended for the 2011 season for repeated violations of the same team rule -- will transfer closer to home at Pitt rather than wait to be reinstated in Columbus in 2012.

That choice ends a brief, disappointing Buckeye tenure for Bell, who arrived at OSU out of Monroeville (Pa.) as one of the nation's hottest linebacking recruits. But Bell was forced to take a surprising redshirt in 2009 and played in a limited role in 2010. He had been expected to challenge for one of the two vacant starting positions in the Buckeye linebacking corps this fall, but the suspension ended any chance of that and Bell decided to move on.

The good news for Ohio State is that Bell's decision does nothing to change their outlook for 2011 (though the initial suspension did deal a minor blow to their depth in the LB unit) and would seem to have only minor repercussions down the road ... unless Bell blows up at Pitt. Panther fans will hope that the change of scenery helps him reach his five-star potential--as they have similar hopes for other recent Pittsburgh-area-recruits-turned- transfers-home Cullen Christian (from Michigan) and Brandon Felder (from North Carolina).

And in the meantime, the Buckeyes will hope this is as bad as the news this week gets.

So Bell wants to play closer to home.  THis is nothing new.  Many kids do the same thing.  What is alarming is that Ohio State continues to lose players either thru suspension, or transfer.  No matter what happens to Ohio State this season, the ramafications will go on for a long time.  i know that Ohio State runs a dirty program.  You know that Ohio State runs a dirty program.  Now the NCAA knows that Ohio State runs a dirty program, and will be watching them like a hawk for years to come.  Some players simply do not like that.  Besides, now the Ohio State players will have to find a new way to get their illegal gifts and cash, and that takes a lot of work for a football player, most of which must look at their drivers licenses to spell their name.

WVU is a crap program made up of hoodlums and criminals who don't know how to read.  You should really pay attention old man
LOL!!...speaking of paying attention...just how far would you like for me to read to you kid since its obvious you're struggling it with it as well...hmm...so many choices to chose from...lets see....how about this one....a typical story of a PITT player in trouble and WANNY and the AD finding away to get the local courts to give out nothing but a hand slap...

A star University of Pittsburgh football player accused of beating up a man in the South Side last month appeared in court Wednesday. A judge dropped all of the charges against Jabaal Sheard to summary offenses after he pleaded guilty to to disorderly conduct for a fight last month in which he threw a man through an art gallery's glass door.

According to Channel 11's Alan Jennings who was in the court room, Sheard will now have to write a letter apologizing to Pittsburgh police and pay the medical bills of the victim.

A storefront window was shattered and two suspects were hit with pepper spray as police said they tried to break up a fight involving Sheard along East Carson Street in front of the LaFond Gallery.

An off-duty officer who was alerted to a group of men fighting immediately called for backup. When the officer got to the scene, he said he noticed only two men, Sheard and Edward Parker, fighting.

Sheard, 21, of Hollywood Hills, Fla., is a defensive lineman for Pitt. He has been suspended indefinitely from team activities following his arrest, said Associate Athletic Director E.J. Borghetti.

It was not immediatley clear if Sheard will be taken off suspension following Wednesday's hearing.

The officer said he identified himself as police, ordering the two to stop, but he said Sheard ignored him and continued to beat Parker in the face and body.

Other officers arrived and unsuccessfully tried to break up the fight, police said. One officer used a baton on Sheard, who grabbed Parker and threw him through the glass door of the LaFond Gallery, police said.

As Parker laid on his back bleeding, police said Sheard continued to hit him, which is when they used pepper spray on both men.

Sheard was then placed in handcuffs and arrested without further incident, police said.

If you want me to keep going the story about your boy Jeff Knox and his pregnant girlfriend....

The kid has been nothing but trouble at OSU and it had nothing to do with OSU itself. But of course the haters will jump at the chance to regurgitate more rhetoric they hear on this site and at ESPN's.

For Bell's sake I hope he is able to get his life in order and have some success.

WVU is a crap program
Really? What does that make a team that lost to that crap team by a score of 35-10 on their so-called "home" field? That makes two in a row the Panthers have lost, and that's against Bill Stewart.  Crap program that has dominated the Panthers.  4 of the last 6. 13-6 in the last 19 games.  15-7-1, last 23 games.  Two top-10 finishes in the last 6 years.  None for Pitt since.......... I can't remember back that far.   Two BCS bowl victories.  Zero for Pitt.  And now you are building your future on a former WVU assistant. That 35-10 stomping will seem like a close game after the 2011 game results.

youngster.  You are entitled to your opinion, even if the facts prove otherwise.  Don't you read the news?  Pitt is in the top-10.  Only it's not in football.  It's in # of student athletes in the football program being arrested.

A west virginia fan talking about castoffs.  Funny.  WVU's  entire team is a bunch of thugs that couldn't get admitted anywhere else.    WVU is a crap program made up of hoodlums and criminals who don't know how to read.  You should really pay attention old man.

Looks like Pitt is building a team from the misfits, and cast offs from other teams.  Isn't that how Oakland does it?
