USC signs merchandise deal with the Cowboys

Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys have become quite entangled with the world of college football in recent years. The new Cowboys Stadium has hosted numerous games, and is now the home of the Cotton Bowl. Now, Jerry Jones has dipped his toes in the pool of merchandise money to be made off of college football. The Cowboys have launched Silver Star Merchandising and have already signed a deal with USC.

The deal with USC consolidates all licensing deals for its apparel under one agreement with Silver Star with the exception of uniforms and apparel worn by USC athletes and coaches on the field of play. Nike continues to hold those rights. Silver Star’s strategy is to develop a private label brand of Southern Cal jerseys, T-shirts and hats with the tags on those items displaying only the Trojan athletics logos, Jones said.

While Jones declined to get into the specifics of the deal, he did say that Silver Star Merchandising will pay USC greater royalties than it was getting from it's previously licensing companies. Also, it should be noted that Silver Star is not planning on stopping at USC. The company is already one of three companies who are finalists in the bidding for Ohio State's merchandising rights. The company has already begun talking to Texas about the possibility as well.

It seems obvious that Jerry Jones will not stop until he owns the world, and once that happens, well, don't say I didn't warn you, Mars.

Maybe it's more innocent than all that.  maybe it's just time for a new Jerry Jones FACELIFT and he needs the extra cash.

I find this very interesting.  Jerry Jones went after USC, the most recognizeable team in what if now becoming the second most recognizeable conference in the NCAA. (I still rate the SEC at #1, with the Pac 12 at #2).  Landing Ohio State would get him in the door in theBig 10+2 conference.  Texas could be next.  That is three of the biggest names in college football.  All he needs is an SEC team to firmly establish Silver Star.  Can games at Jerryworld for these teams be that far off?

USC had more than enough money before this deal was made to pay whomever they want.
Don't tell me that ND hasn't paid a player or a hundred before.
If you believe they haven't then you're as stupid as they get.

Gee he should have signed with "the osu."

Then Tressel could write more worthless books about that along with his preaching. Cool

This is interesting news, but why doesn't he make the deal with a Texas college team. Are they not good enough? Apparently not....on the business field where it matters most. I thought USC was on hard times what with the sanctions and all. But the USC brand is still above all others in college...well except for Notre Dame...or not! Best of luck to Jerry Jones.

Interesting approach. I'm not a big Jerry Jones fan myself. Side note: Just found that new CoachWatcher website and it is legit!
