Pitt's tumultuous offseason got slightly even more tumultuous this week, as backup sophomore defensive back Kolby Gray and redshirt freshman tight end Dan Schneider have each elected to leave the team, Schneider to pursue a medical degree and Gray to reportedly transfer closer to home at Baylor.

There's also more at stake for Gray in his transfer than just a few home-cooked meals, as our Pittsburgh CBS affiliate reports:
He also is a country songwriter with a great deal of potential to pursue a music career. It’s believed that and a desire to move closer to home are the main reasons behind his transfer.
Gray's far, far from the first athlete to have designs on a music career away from the field (remember this 1999 SI cover?), but to hear this original song on YouTube, you'd think he stands a better chance of making it than most. Judge for yourself:

And hey, it's hard to get a more Nashville-friendly name than "Kolby Gray," right? Not a bad deal for Baylor--they get a quality defensive back (with one varsity letter already under his belt at Pitt) and, maybe, they get to say they knew Gray when.
