South Park goes after the NCAA

South Park has been on television since 1997 and during its impressive run it has never been afraid to take on a topic, satirize it, skewer it, put it on the grill and burn the hell out of it. While some may feel that the show has lost its edge over the years, there are still plenty of episodes each season that are dead on with their special brand of commentary on a variety of issues. Last night's episode was one of those, as South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone decided to take on the NCAA.

Sure, comparing student athletes to crack babies may not be the obvious choice, but then it wouldn't be South Park, would it? Besides, as you'll see in the video below, the crack babies were only a device to get to the real point of the story.

At least at the end of the episode, the crack babies got their very own orphanage -- thanks, Slash! -- but I guess we'll just have to wait and see what student athletes get.

DEAD ON!

Big Education should be the next demonized corporate overlord! University presidents should be mentioned in the same foul breath as investment bankers and big oil CEO's.

I guess we will wait to see what the student athletes get? You missed the point of the episode. In real life, the "orphanage" is the University. The University will house you and give you school for 4 years instead of paying you.

South Park goes after the NCAA

I must agree as well. South Park, as off the cuff as they are , hit this one dead on just like all the other topics the demolish. They bring the situation in a different view and try use an "out there" comparison to make their point. On another South Park topic, Isacc Hayes is a hypocrite!

I watched the episode last night, and thought it was dead on.  I also cracked up over the Sarah Mclachlan commercial.  South Park got a good jab on both the exploitation of student athletes, as well as the Fiesta Bowl Fiasco.....

Brilliant!
