There's burying news and there's BURYING news. Kudos to South Carolina for announcing a bit of news that was expected for months but was finally made official Monday morning in the middle of news that Ohio State coach Jim Tressel resigned: quarterback Stephen Garcia will be reinstated to the team and be allowed to participate in voluntary summer workouts. He had been serving an indefinite suspension since April 6.

“Stephen is returning to the team on a probationary basis and still has to do some things here for the next two or three months to prove himself worthy of being a student-athlete at South Carolina,” said head coach Steve Spurrier in a release. “We will give him another chance and hopefully he can do the right things and represent the University in a first-class manner.”
Garcia will be re-evaluated prior to the start of fall camp, scheduled to begin August 2nd. He was suspended all of spring practice earlier this year after a series of incidents, starting with allegedly partying before the Gamecocks' bowl game last season and, later, not representing himself at a school function.

“Being a student-athlete at the University of South Carolina is a privilege, not a right,” said Athletics Director Eric Hyman. “We explain to all of our student-athletes that there are consequences for their actions. Our main goal for Stephen at this time is to assist him in developing the decision-making skills that are needed for managing life in general, whether as a student-athlete, a person, an employee, a spouse or a parent.

“So the ball clearly rests in Stephen Garcia’s hands.”

Garcia has started 28 consecutive games for South Carolina and was expected to be the starter for a team coming off an SEC Eastern Division title last season, the first in school history. He graduated in May with a degree in sociology but did not pursue transfer options at the time, leading many to read between the lines and see that Garcia would likely be back with the team for the beginning of the season. With today's announcement, it appears that is all but assured.

Carolina has ZERO chance of winning the SEC east without the Drunk Dumb-Dumb Garcia at qb.
Well, at least they HAVE a chance of winning the SEC east....unlike UGA.  Like UGA EVER has a chance of winning the east....

The "all in" term is a gambling term.  And for all of the sheep like fans and followers who use it, please know that the term, "all in," tells very simply what is wrong with "amateur" sports everywhere at all levels.

Drug dealers and coaches in South FL wager openly on elementary and middle school football games.  Do any of us, enough of us, care to do or say anything about it, any of it?

Don't think so.  And that is wrong is so many ways that all of us should be ashamed we don't do more to convince our cohorts of how ridiculous we have become, wanting only to be fed and entertained.  To heck with all the rest of it, right guys?

Stephen Garcia reinstated by South Carolina

I actually had to endure a 2+ hour conversation yesterday with a longtime Gator fan (and still a worshipper of Spurrier) who proclaimed that Stevie Football was "the most ethical and upstanding coach in college football."  After I cleared the beer out of my nose from laughter, I decided that listening to this blatant hypocrisy and idiocy was a legitimate basis for getting "over served."  My wife actually supported that logic.  G-d bless her!

Vintage Spurrier.  Make the big splash about (finally) kicking this moron off the team, so the media can gush about his "standards."  Then sneak him back on with little or no fanfare because you'd be 2-10 without him and winning at all costs is the only thing that has really ever mattered to Steve-O.

And remember, Spurrier is the hypocrite that used to rip Florida State and Tennessee for the lack of "standards" in their programs and how the "inmates" were in control.  Who's in control of YOUR program, Stevie?

Laughable.  I truly hope that Garcia really has learned his lesson now after his second third fourth fifth sixth seventh eighth "final" chance.  But it's more likely that he will crack under the pressure sometime in October, do something stupid, and cost the other 84 kids on the team their season.

Well played, Spurrier!  Well played, Sir!

How a bout an Ohio State vs. USC bowl game this winter?  Both programs are up the creek.

The Ole Ball Coach replaces Mervin Meyer

The Ole Ball Coach has replaced " Mervin Meyer " as the SEC coach most likely to sell his soul for wins. Carolina has ZERO chance of winning the SEC east without the Drunk Dumb-Dumb Garcia at qb. Garcia is jekyl-hyde but when he is on like he was vs Bama last year he is tough to beat. The Ole Ball Coach WILL sell his soul and play this crook to try to win the SEC east.

No one is surprised, next thing you know they are going to break the news that Michael Floyd is reinstated too but it is true, its good news for everyone else with what is going on at Ohio State as their issues get pushed to the back pages of the papers and websites like these.
