Clemson wide receiver Joe Craig was suspended from the Clemson track team for an undisclosed violation of team rules for an incident on May 22nd, and we now know the details behind his suspension. His female teammate on the track team, Marlena Wesh, was also suspended from the team. According to a report from's Greg Wallace, there was a rather violent and bloody confrontation between the two.

University police were called to Clemson House just after midnight after a resident witnessed Craig and another female, identified as his girlfriend, go down a hallway toward Wesh’s room.

Craig repeatedly banged on the door with a silver towel rod, leaving marks on it.

When police arrived, they witnessed Wesh emerge from an elevator on the ground floor, bleeding from her head and “screaming and hysterical.”

Craig was found in a silver Chevy Impala parked outside. According to the report, he was “bleeding profusely from his left triceps area,” and an officer tied his shirt around the wound until EMS personnel arrived.

The police report said that Wesh was "fearful for her safety" but that she opened her door to cut Craig with an eyebrow razor with a serrated blade. Craig then responded by hitting Wesh in the forehead and continued hitting her while she was on the ground. The police report also said that there was a bloody handprint on the door, and that blood was "spattered all the way down the hall to the elevator." The two teammates were then taken to a local hospital where they received treatment for their wounds, and neither pressed charges against the other.

As of now, no further action has been taken against Craig by Dabo Swinney and the football team. Craig did not have a single reception during his freshman season with the football team.

What's sad is that the following two comments aren't aimed so much as the crime that went on, just more about how Clemson is trash in the eyes of USC. Obviously Craig's actions were wrong and are going to be dealt with. The university is pending an investigation and Dabo will act further into the situation. Both Craig and the women involved were dismissed from the track team and neither pressed charges. As far as claiming Clemson condones abuse of any nature is a very immature and irrational response. Now I will say that what ever Joe Craig and McDaniel's intentions were in acting their way were not right in any aspect. I also will say that they are not to be compared to what Garcia himself has done. To hit a woman is unaccusable in any light. However both our programs have problems and we should work on fixing those. Whatever happened to football being about the game of football instead of finding dirt against other teams? Regardless, I expect Dabo to respond his own way in time after the investigation is finished.

You're an embarrassment - yet another woman was beaten by a clemson football player and you're going to argue all-time records, much of which is from clemson's days of paying players?  USC doesn't wish we could be you; we pity you and wish you had a sense of what is right and wrong.  Y'all care so much about winning that you'll defend a guy who beats a woman repeatedly with a metal rod?  Just as y'all defended DeAndre McDaniel who beat a girl all the way to the emergency room?  Y'all are unreal....don't you have mothers or sisters or daughters to put these kinds of things into perspective?  Who gives a rip about wins and losses when you have repeated instances of male student-athletes beating on women?  Keep your eye on the ball, for crying out loud....geez

Clemson WR allegedly attacks track teammate

This incident happened way back on May 22 and is just now finally being reported.  What's more, yet another Clemson player beats on a woman WITH WITNESSES and has no punishment from the authorities or even the football program.  He beat this girl with a metal rod!  She cut him with a razor to the point he was bleading all over the place!  How does it work in Pickens County/Clemson where these things happen and none of the parties involved face any consequences??  Not even disorderly conduct? I could care less as this guy sounds like a fringe player at best but it's things like this and the DeAndre McDaniel girlfriend beating that perpetuate these kinds of things to keep happening.  Any intelligent person has to wonder what else goes on at clemson that gets swept under the's been close to 2 weeks since this happened and it's just now getting out & consider how serious it is....imagine if he just beat her up with his fists; most likely, the story never would have made it out of clemson.

Stay classy, clemson....hope y'all get with the times and make beating women a punishable offense.  I sure as hell wouldn't want a daughter of mine going there.

tiger dug, you actually going to compare being drunk or keying cars to hitting a 5'6 girl in the head with a pipe? DeAndre choking and throwing his girl down the stairs? I got ya.

MetsIslefan, did you read your comment before submitting it?  You said "You are actually going to use the last 2 football seasons....." and in the next sentence use history to make your case.  Make up your mind.  Does the past matter or not?  Just like a clemson fan, delusional.  You just won't acknowledge that the table's have turned.  Garcia has never lost to clem-tech as a starter and never will.  Keep Dumbo's Weenie around and we'll win 4, maybe 5 in a row.  LMAO!!!!

Don't see any CWS championships in all those wins against USC.  Better stay in that weak conference so y'all will at least have another shot at an ACC title.

Smoking Rib, you can not be serious?  You are actually going to use the last 2 football seasons to say you guys are not bitter.  Not to mention but,  Clemson lead USC 65-39-4 in football,  Clemson also leads USC 168-125 in baseball.

By the way Clemson is ranked #64 best Schools in the country and USC is at #111.

You guys only wish you could be us.

My, my are these clemson fans touchy or what.  Everyone knew Garcia would be back.  If he would have been at any other Div 1 football program we wouldn't have even ever heard a peep about Garcia much less suspensions.  Sometimes it can be tough for these kids at USC when the coach holds them to such high standards like Spurrier does.  If Dumbo's Weenie over at clemson suspended every player that drank a beer he wouldn't have a team left.

I am a typical Carolina fan, but definately NOT bitter.  Why should I be bitter.  Let's see:   2009 (34-17), 2010 (29-7).  No need to mention baseball.

I don't think Garcia is clem-tech's only problem this year.  They should also be concerned about Alshon, Lattimore, Clowney, Taylor, Gilmore, and Damiere "fly like a" Byrd.  For 2011 how about 50 something  to 3.

CDV usually ends in charges not being filed.. anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves. Reasonable people don't hit one another...if Craig is convicted I say suspend him for 3 games.
He will play this year , but with our 3 heralded freshman on the sidelines it won't be very much if I had to guess. I think the guy made a mistake and needs to pay for it... it ain't like he tore up some professors car or ran around drunk and underage or anything though.

Neither pressed charges, hahaha. Clemson's friends of the program took care of that.

Typical comment from a typical bitter Carolina fan, not surprising that you think that way.  Like Garcia recieved any real suspension after his 3 arrests, and he's still on the team? Quite uneducated that you would be that hypocritical. McDaniel was placed on deferred suspension, meaning he could play as long as he completed his PTI.  His punishment was with the judicial system.
