Reggie Bush hasn't returned his Heisman

On Monday the BCS stripped USC of its 2004 title after the school's appeal to the NCAA was denied in May. As you'll remember, a big reason why USC was in trouble in the first place was former running back Reggie Bush. Back in September, Bush announced that he was forfeiting the Heisman Trophy he won in 2005. Well, it's been nearly nine months since he made that announcement, but if he's planning on giving the actual trophy back to the Heisman Trust, Bush is sure taking his sweet time about it.

According to a report from The Dan Patrick Show, Bush is yet to return the trophy.

The source at the Heisman Trophy Trust told us that there was no specific agreement with Reggie Bush to return the trophy, but that it was “alluded to in Reggie’s statement and the whole world reasonably expected him to return it.”

The Heisman Trust source added that they had been in touch with Bush’s agent “more than once” about the status of returning the trophy. Also, Bush would not even have to pay for shipping. The Heisman Trust would send him a case for the Heisman Trophy, with shipping paid for.

There were two versions of Bush's trophy given out. One to Bush and one to USC. Since September, USC athletic director Pat Haden has returned the school's trophy to the Heisman Trust. Apparently, while the Heisman Trust has tried to contact Bush about returning his trophy, Bush hasn't made any effort to do so. Which, no matter how you feel about the entire Bush/USC situation, is rather lame. If you took the time to publicly say you were going to forfeit the trophy, then forfeit the trophy. Actions speak louder than words and all that.

Who cares abouth the award?  It's like the Dumbell...excuse me...Nobel prizes handed out annually to the biggest media darling vs. actually going to the person who legitimately earned the award.  Bush is a symbolic predecessor...his award win brought chaos to USC in the long term...just like the Nobel Peace Prize is bringing chaos to America.  One is sports and the other is politics but the overall result is the same: Unfairly awarded symbol that once was prestigious is now shown to be (insert adjective of choice here)...and the recipient proves to be a person without any sense of humility or decency.

Unlike the "awards"..."respect" is earned...not blindly given.

He lied about not receiving benefits. Why would he not lie about returning the Heisman. The story coming out on Dan Patrick's show and the subsequent bad press is the ONLY reason the trophy will get returned. Just when you thought he couldn't look anymore like an arrogant, me first ass, Reggie surprises you once again.

Forenelli needs to get his facts straight because I distinctly remember that Reggie Bush tweeted about returning the Trophy earlier this year. Where did I read that...on cbssports. Either cbssports or Fornelli is wrong. I would not be surprised if both are wrong!

Oh and Regge selling the Heisman would be GREAT PR for him, just what he needs especially since he was begging the Saints to not move on from him.
He shot his mouth off via Twitter when the Saints drafted Ingram then when he realized that he had made a dumb mistake he backed off of it knowing that he is a third down back at best and even then can't be in t here for too many plays as he is very fragile so his bread & butter is that New Orleans offense and the little niche Payton's carved out for him.
He's already flubbed enough he doesn't nee to add to it and he knows it which is why he wouldn't make a chump move like selling the Heisman.

Oh and Yes there is something they can do, it's not "HIS" trophy if he was deemed ineligible and therefore stripped of the title of the Heisman trophy winner for that year so in essence he is possessing property that does't belong to him because of his ineligible status that season didn't happen for him.

First of all there is no "E" in "Trophy"
Next, he was deemed ineligible for the games he "earned" it so in essence it was as if they NEVER happened so if they never happened he technichally DIDN'T "Earn it".

All I know is that trophy is a serious collector item if Reggie put out in the open market.

All he has to do is say he sold it. Nothing they can do. No one likes an indian giver.
