NCAA investigation of Auburn isn't over

If you thought that the NCAA's investigation of Auburn and its recruitment of Cam Newton was over, then it seems you'd be wrong. At least, that's the impression NCAA Vice President of Enforcement Julie Roe Lach gave Auburn head coach Gene Chizik last month. That's when football and basketball coaches from the SEC were in Destin, Florida where Lach made a presentation to the group.

According to a report in the New York Times, after Lach opened up her presentation for discussion, Chizik had quite a few questions for her and then she dropped a bombshell on him.
[Chizik] peppered Roe Lach with a flurry of questions about the N.C.A.A.’s investigation into Cam Newton and why the N.C.A.A. had not publicly announced that the investigation was over. Chizik complained that the inquiry’s open-ended nature had hurt Auburn’s recruiting and he followed up at least three times, leading to a testy exchange.

“You’ll know when we’re finished,” Roe Lach told Chizik, according to several coaches who were at the meeting. “And we’re not finished.”
Well then!

While neither the NCAA or Auburn would confirm the exchange between Chizik and Roe Lach, according to the New York Times report, four fellow SEC basketball coaches -- Vanderbilt's Kevin Stallings, Arkansas' Mike Anderson, LSU's Trent Johnson and Ole Miss' Andy Kennedy -- did confirm the exchange to the paper.

Of course, just because the investigation isn't over, that doesn't mean the NCAA is going to find any new evidence than what it has already and use it to punish Auburn. Still, the fact that the NCAA is still digging around can't be all that comforting for Auburn faithful.

NCAA investigation of Auburn isn't over

Actually, Nitro, Cecil did turn over the church's financial records.  There was nothing there.  Honestly, Auburn and Cecil have been nothing but cooperative and forthcoming during the entire process and where has it gotten them?  I understand the hate coming from bammers.

Well good, then Auburn has nothing to worry about.  If I'm wrong, I don't have a problem being corrected as long as it is with facts and logic.  Nothing I've said here is hateful toward Auburn, or at least it should not be interpreted that way.  All that said, the NCAA is still not likely to close the book on the investigation.  That is just not how the NCAA operates.

But the hate from the rest of the nation is, frankly, irrational and fueled by an irresponsible media that has distorted this entire saga and has rarely presented the truth, the WHOLE truth, and nothing but the truth.

As an Ohio State Alumnus, I can assure you that you are preaching to the choir.  A lot of what has been reported about OSU this year has been well beyond being distorted.  Quite a bit of it has been factually challenged to the point of being completely untrue.

There is nothing wrong with defending your team Husker.  Perhaps this is why the SEC is the best, because we are passionate about our football.  Don't tell people on a post to get a life because they are posting.  Seems like you are throwing in your two cents too.  I was arguing with a Bama guy because he cant let it go and buys in to too many rumors.

As for the LSU guy, bezap or whatever, I wasn't even talking to you dude.  You started the mudslinging with yourself when you brought up the Auburn not elite garbage, something no one disagreed with you with.  Being an LSU guy I can see why you don't know what it is like to have a rival but fighting with Alabama fans is a pretty daunting task.  Don't talk to me about logic.  There isn't any on this thread.  I guess you guys want me to submit to you and believe that this article at hand brings something new and something for me to worry about but it isn't going to happen.  I am glad you admitted it was a speculative blog (about the only thing intelligent you said all day).

As far as the argument at hand I am man enough to say here and now that if Auburn is guilty of something I will be the first to sign on and admit I was wrong and pat you guys on the back.  Now, are you man enough to admit that as of right now, this article, and a dozen others, sheds nothing new on this topic and it is just as possible that Auburn is completely innocent as they are guilty?

And, just so you know, it is ignorant, and you are an idiot to pass judgment without the facts.  Thumb through this thread and still try and tell me people don't have an axe to grind with Auburn or that we are not taking our share of criticism before the facts.  And when you see that, still try and convice me that they have a right to do so.  Please outline the evidence that should worry Auburn.

Here's betting Auurn will "vacate" it's ill-gotten NCAA Championship, and that Scammin' Cam Newton will not only shame his rent-a-school "alma mater" (can't call him a alum since he'll likely never graduate) but also make the Carolina Fools who Drafted him #1 look like the buffoons they are when he flames out in a year or three. War Eagle - Jokes on the Tigers.

I simply love Auburn fans..... this thread is freaking hilarious.  Anybody who poo poos on anything Auburn suddenly has a major "axe to grind".  Auburn fans also are good at throwing out random "idiots", "stupid" and "ignorant".   Clearly because any logic or reason used to poo poo Auburn obviously makes us stupid idiots.  You could use this thred as exhibit A for little brother syndrome.......... look it up, the harder you press the more it makes you look hopelessly outmatched.

What is it you believe I wish for?

Whatever axe you have to grind with Auburn.  I am simply being realistic based on current facts and precedent with the NCAA.  You want us to fail for some reason.
